It might be useful to have a thread updating the tourism status of various countries in the region.
Aswan news is reporting today that Thailand plans to reopen tourism in all major areas from 1 Nov providing no new major outbreaks or spikes.
It isn’t clear though what ‘reopens’ means; will it be a proper reopening or some kind of extension of the Phuket sandbox scheme to other areas.
Similarly, Malaysia plans to reopen from 1 Dec when 90 percent of the population is forecast to be vaccinated - it’s currently at 87 percent.
It’s not clear from both countries what their approach will be to unvaccinated travellers but if they are like most countries they will either deter unvaccinated tourists or still apply quarantine conditions to them.
