Phuket I know you've been following the war for at least a decade. Where do you think most of the weapons for insurgents are coming from? I've heard a lot of rumors about the Chinese and Indians supplying weapons but why would the Chinese do so when China, is trying to improve relations with Nyapyidaw and the junta?
China only supplies weapons directly to the Tatmadaw and those Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAO) that are sanctioned by the SAC (such as the United Wa State Army).
The Tatmadaw is corrupt, and Chinese weapons supplied to them found their way into EAO hands via the black market (primarily light weapons), particularly during the ceasefire period pre-coup.
Secondly, there are reports the UWSA is supplying certain weapon types to the KIA and possibly others (including limited surface to air capability).
More recently, the sheer number of Tatmadaw bases overrun resulted in a large influx of Chinese weaponry and munitions into EAO hands.
