I tried kodi and various add ons a few years back.
Ok for movies/series, but for live tv it was a pain in the ass. When I wanted to watch football I had to spend the first 20 minutes finding a stable stream. I got a bit fed up and finally gave up wasting time on it.
I now use iptv and it’s been great for me. Similar to what I expected kodi add-ons but it’s got a fairly easy GUI and is stable for movies, series, catch-up tv and live tv. It offers SD, HD and SuperHD. It’s easy enough to use that my wife and kid can fire it up without supervision now (though it admittedly took a while for my wife to ‘get it’)
I pay annually but I think it’s something like $8 per month for 2 devices. I use it on my smart tv and on my ipad.
I think it does require a pretty decent internet speed though. I use Ezecom 30Mb connection and it costs $18 per month, again paid annually. I might upgrade to their 50Mb option, currently $30 per month at next renewal though.
