Re: Lon Nol's evacuation plane still sitting at DMK
This plane is not sitting on the grounds of the museum. Anyone actually been to the plane can tell me how to get up to it? Seems it's sitting on airport property by the airport, but not sure which roads are passable for a vehicle.

Re: Asking for a specific banknote at a bank?
My friend a old us banker always goes to the National Bank of Cambodia and gets crisp off the printer new banknotes. The recent new one he got was the 15000 riel note. They don't exchange money there but the trick is to get fairly clean or better crisp riel from your bank first and than ask for the...

You could also try speaking English. Hey the icon you use in your post...the old man with the cigar. Just curious if you know the background to that guy? (Maybe you do and that's why you picked it.) But anyway, he lived in Havana, Cuba in the early 2000's and made the cover of Lonely Planet Cuba 20...

Re: Asking for a specific banknote at a bank?
Thanks all. There are 4 notes I'm looking for in the 10k to 20k range. Something tells me I'm gonna spend a lot of time trying to get these, but I'll try the suggestions you all mentioned. In the end I can get them from ebay but for x2 or x3 face value.

Asking for a specific banknote at a bank?
I'm working on my collection of "uncirculated" or "nearly uncirculated" Cambodian banknotes since independence. I'm short some of the larger notes like the 30,000 riel Paris Peace Agreement note. If I go to a bank with 30,000 riel and a picture of the note I want, will they exchange my 30,000 riel w...

Re: John Pilger, Year Zero
It's a fascinating look at PP right after the KR were overthrown. He has a 1990 followup documentary as well. Also check out the wikipedia page on this documentary for some interesting background. There is a smugness and an obvious Anti-American bias in all of his reporting that I can't seem to get ...

Re: Still B-52 Craters In Neak Loeung?
The most bomb craters that I have seen were Southwest of Kompong Thom city.Maybe it was a free drop zone. From the air sometimes buffalo wallows look like bomb craters. But the ones in Kompong Thom are staggered and the spacing is even. Some maps show an airstrip in the area but I have never seen any ...

Yes, this is the right one. You can ignore my other reply to the group. If I can get myself here then I'll have my local fried who's driving me help me find the site 6km away...more research ahead...Thanks!! Oh hold on, there is a "Stoeung Chinit Tourism Site" ... that's it, the rebel base is there....

REP to BBM bus, shared taxi, etc.. late afternoon
Hello everyone. I will arrive to REP from DMK at 2:30pm after the Mekong and other bus companies have left Siem Reap for Battambang. Can anyone suggest a driver or shared taxi or even a later bus service that leaves Siem Reap for Battambang maybe around 4pm? I speak enough Khmer to coordinate with a...

Still B-52 Craters In Neak Loeung?
Planning a return trip to PP in the coming months and wanted to see some (unusual and historic) sites outside of town. Are any B-52 craters in Neak Loeung still visible from the bombing in the 70's? Actually, I only selected Neak Loeung because of the noteworthiness of the place, but if there are st...

Re: Lon Nol's evacuation plane still sitting at DMK
At least a few (10?) years ago, there were some abandoned planes in the forrest near the PP airport. Anyone ever seen these?
