Re: Recommend a VPN
Can't speak for BBC, but I use ExpressVPN to get through Disney+. That was probably the hardest site to fool as it even goes down to which country your credit card is registered in. Bonkers. I can't imagine any reason why one would want to access anything Disney-related, tbh, but to each his own. I...

Re: Duty on personal items shipped to Cambodia
I did that with my books when I moved here, I knew it would take a few trips before everything in the UK was tidied up, and just brought a pile of books at a time. Not an easy thing to transport as they weigh a lot, so you can get hammered on the costs. Not sure what I'll do when my dad passes, he h...

Surprised Carl Weathers didn't get a mention a few days back. Rocky would not be Rocky without him, indeed Stallone's movie probably would have flopped without Weathers as a foil. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68188746 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/obituaries/2024/02/04/TELEMMGL...

They are blocked - if you can access RFA, you're either using a VPN, or your internet provider is going to get a nasty knock on the door sometime soon.

Re: British expats and the state pension
Hmm, how are you only adding voluntary contribs of £1.5k, and £160pa now to keep at that level? Going through the government website my past contributions from employer, etc was significant, but for me to catch up each year missed (being in Cambodia), but still eligible to catch up was way more than...

Re: British expats and the state pension
Sorry I did make a mistake and quoted per month, when it is in fact per week. Minor error in my typing, my underlying "this doesn't seem a good idea to catch up on" maths still stands as I did that per week.

Re: Duty on personal items shipped to Cambodia
Personal items get a 20% hit on import nowadays; particularly if coming through a courier, Post Office I haven't used for a while and tends to be a bit more negotiable. You will need to have a proof of purchase, itemised list/pictures of the contents, and quite a bit of patience. I'm sure there was ...

Re: British expats and the state pension
I just had a cheeky look at this as I have not made any contributions since emigrating here some 16-17 years ago. My current payout, if I could even collect it here, would be around $100/m - with full contributions it would be nearly $200/m at retirement age (another 20 years off) as far as I can as...

Re: Trump 2024
Add me to that list, I don't like it any more than anyone else here, but fact is Trump is going to walk it. Same as Keir Starmer in the UK. What a time to be alive.
