"All we ever wanted was everyhting," and I was trying to locate that song at The Cavern just last month....
I'd like to see a freeze on every single colonail building left standing in Phnom Penh... regardless of how much of it is left standing. They should renovate the exteriors to exact historical form, each and every one of them.
A great area for renovation is the Post Office zone. It is the only place left where you can stand in the middle of the street and look around and see just Colonial Structures in all directions.... and parts of it look as if they would fall over this afternoon.
I would put in a round about in the middle, plant a big azz tree, and reface all the buildings. The roundabout would slow traffic, allow for a center fountain/tree with garden, and get rid of that big bulky pavement look.... and 100% of all toursists would visit the area.... the shop fronts would be more successful.... and it would become a truly "must see," in Phnom Penh.

Thanks for the tip Peaceman. I´ll go check the floor next time i visit the city. I visited your bar in november 2007 and smoked yaba with some Kenny in the "backroom" and if i remember right you were there too. There was also a bottle of some booze with a snake inside standing on a level in the wall near the "outdoor", one of your waitresses gave me a shot from it when i asked what it is. Wasn´t too good, maybe it was old? Can you remember? And there was this Anna Ouk who was 8 month pregnant, smoked lots of meth too..

I'll check Barry's Bauhaus collection and fill in any gaps - I think I have pretty much the whole catelogue.BurritoT wrote:"All we ever wanted was everyhting," and I was trying to locate that song at The Cavern just last month....
I came, I argued, I'm out
Hey get your musical appreciation posts off my thread. This is for the architectural and artistic appreciation of the Broken Bricks as well as general narcotic abuse discussions. i don't know where the discerning junkie would go these days but for a while the Bricks had the best grass in town, two kinds of hash, brown and white heroin and the cheapest coke in town at $60.00 a gram. Of course there was always ice as that was my particular poison. Oh yeah we also had Ketamine, LSD and the only real ecstacy in town. We also sold beer and had electricity sometimes.andyinasia wrote:I'll check Barry's Bauhaus collection and fill in any gaps - I think I have pretty much the whole catelogue.BurritoT wrote:"All we ever wanted was everyhting," and I was trying to locate that song at The Cavern just last month....

Yes i heard he had moved to the great coca plantation in the sky. I'm not entirely sure of the details.
He was my friend and i was sorry to hear it.
Like myself, he was one of a dying breed of old school Phnom Penh characters (some would say dinosaurs) who cut their teeth in the wild west days of 96-97
I hope he had a spliff in his mouth and his boots on when he went.

Walked up to the rooftop ladder yesterday.... the first floor has been painted all white... and I mean ALL WHITE. They kinda killed it in a way. The top floor is still in its past glory. There are a number of old antique book shelves, wardrobes, and a wagon wheel up there. The unrenovated part is more apealing than the new part (1st floor.)
