Steve, what was the location of the meeting with Jim?Seaquell wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 11:52 amViolet: several months before I had started a resort development venture. Having reached the point of sales and marketing I was seeking to sell off 20% of the venture (about $120,000) to recoup some of the capital invested. Meeting with Jim was suggested to me by someone who knew him and knew he was coming to BKK that day. Jim wasn't in BKK to meet me but came to meet the undercover DEA agents, as he had done at least once previously.
I did not have access to a lawyer the 7 months i was detained after my arrest and before my trial to prepare my defence. I complained to embassy consular officers about this and that I had been entrapped. Embassy told me just to admit guilt (problem solved for them). I refused. Embassy told me that they couldn't help me because if they we're involved in questioning how the US DEA operated in Thailand then intel on drugs heading to Australia would not be shared. US DEA were excluded from the trial and could not be cross examined about what happened. The Thai Police fabricated a confession and when I refused to sign it threatened to jail my wife (who was pregnant at the time). I wrote, "I disagree with this statement," next to my signature but the judge ignored it. I was denied right of appeal. Embassy ignored my complaints about the unfair trial. In 2015 a delegation from the Thai Ministry of Justice visited me in response to my complaints and told me, "We know you're innocent but we can't help you." It was all about the US DEA being able to do whatever they want in Thailand. At one point embassy officers witnessed the Thai authorities torturing me but did nothing. This is now the subject of an official complaint against the senior consular officer involved (same one in the video).
