All my K440 articles are ruined...
Sorry everyone,
Recently I've found every picture I've posted is being held ransom for a "small" fee of $399 a year by photobucket (the site I used to load images to), and if I don't pay up, I'll never be able to link to other websites from photobucket again....which I thought was the point of that website in the first place?? So as of now, all of my K440 articles (coffee, cars, bikes, reviews) are now pictureless and for the most part, pointless. Despite the years of posts that are affected however, I am absoulutely not paying photobucket anything and they can crash and burn for all I care, in fact, I hope they do.
Sorry everyone, hopefully it reverses course.

I don't know about the insane charges you got, but photobucket absolutely sucks now. They hit you with so many ads it's pointless. Can take 20 minutes to upload and edit one photo and add a caption...and good luck trying a second one. Free users must be allowed only one image per week now or something. They can stick their monthly subscription fee. I only saw the $4.99 per month offer. $399 per year? Fuck me.

I used to use Photobucket years back, I find Imgur a whole lot easier now though, and you don't need to have an account or fill in passwords or anything.

Yes, got the same message yesterday. Even if it is not $399.00 per year, it is now bye-bye Photobucket.

I used photobucket for years, but in the past year, even selectively blocking bloat from the site with noscript, it had become painfully unreliable, and eventually plain unusable.
They have a feature on there which enables you to download all your content, after which it's easy to close the account, if you want.
Plenty free imagehosts out there with far better functioning sites.

You can get cheap hosting services, I pay only $36 per year. Gives you virtually unlimited storage space and email accounts. Add $10 per year for a domain name.

You can download your entire library of images by selecting Library on Photobucket, and there the download album link under actions.

why would any need download their photos? surely BEFORE they UPLOADED them to PB, they were somewhere else.
never used PB as a storage for my photos, only for placing images there i was going to place on a forum
Even some forums ( Thai visa) u can grab ur images direct from ur computer.

I don't think he's worried about losing the images... He's upset that the links on his forum posts will be obsolete. It's unreasonable and unrealistic to expect him to repost all of the images somewhere else, and update who knows how many threads and posts with new links (not that he could even with admin controls here). That could take days.dv8inpp wrote:You can download your entire library of images by selecting Library on Photobucket, and there the download album link under actions.
Perhaps K440 should get a Cambodian intern who could do that all for $10 a day. He could also be responsible for fetching Playboy's drink orders throughout the day, book the correct flights for Scoffer's next trip, and help Joon with her sandwich making duties.
