Never mind.
The thing to remember with water is that it can never be used up. The amount of h2o on the planet is fixed. We can drink it, boil it, move it around, etc etc, but it will never go away.

Indeed, but that's not the point. The point is the area that it falls in, and volume and period it falls over, are no longer as predictable as in previous times.slavedog wrote:The thing to remember with water is that it can never be used up. The point is that over 50% of the world's population is urbanised, iow of fixed abode, and unless the water is predictably available, cities are in a very precarious situation.
Cape Town experienced rapid urbanisation without any concomitant increase in reservoirs, and then it had 3 years of serious drought.
At some stage coastal cities will have to build desalination plants for insurance, if not for basic supply.
Selling water rights to private companies who hike prices is ridiculous, yet many countries continue to do this, as well as privatisation of electricity supply. Some argue such privatisation actually motivates private companies to enjoy shortages, as it drives up prices.

in the process of fucking off to the land of honey and free beer
There was a documentary in 2009 called water wars.
They make the point that most water rights in the world are owned by 7 companies. Unless you have cheap, efficient technology to convert polluted water into usable water it doesn't matter how much there is in the world.
There is water in beer right?

There are people out there with their 'business' mind privatizing water. If privatization of water is OK, it should start with America first, not only they waste food but they take an average of 20 minutes of shower daily. And bath, fucking Texans...haha! We are lucky in Cambodia because everybody longed for 'city water' because it is cleaner. But there are plenty underground, villagers do that since centuries from the wells.
Privatization of daily necessities is no good. Drought maybe blame the but I am also a firm believer in climate change, this was way before Al Gore documentary. South Africa is run by a bunch of naggers hence vlad exiled and preach his shits in another country for the last decade.

Fear not, it was over water, not champagne/oysters.Miguelito wrote:Wasn’t there a Bond film or something similar where the villain was taking control of the water supplies?

How about Jackie Chan in Tuxedo!Miguelito wrote:Wasn’t there a Bond film or something similar where the villain was taking control of the water supplies?
Dietrich Banning (Ritchie Coster) is the owner of a bottled water company. By infecting a swarm of water strider insects with a strain of bacteria that causes water to dehydrate rather than rehydrate the drinker and letting them loose, he plans to render all the water in the world undrinkable except his own, thus increasing its value.

I used to have a crush on Jeniffer Love Hewitt in Party of 5 series. Now I just think she is just my sis.
