" effected by tides ". Can you expand on that? I though the tide only came up to somewhere around Neak Luong.

Have you really got a PBR? I didn't know there were any still running here. I read about a guy in the US who bought one and totally refurbished it for display but couldn't get it operational because of problems with getting rubber seals for the rotors etc.tarariverboat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 5:47 pmlast year i had taken a boat our PBR(gun ) boat from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

its a Russian built PBR(GUN) Boat ex Navy, built is 1966,and used during the Vietnam War, its cool and is jet propelled, its built from strong Aluminum, its fast and can turn on a dime, it can also travel in shallow water,i had been looking for a long time(15 years for one), and i did find some but they needed too much work, this beauty is in original condition, its super cool, we use it for our 2 villages, Kompong Phluk tours, and fishing trips up the Sangkor River, yes the Tonle Sap lake has tidal effects due to its shear size, not huge effects i am talking about only 100mm (4 inches) but effects never the less:)Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 8:11 pmHave you really got a PBR? I am not really Planning to take it to Phnom Penh, its new home is in Siem Reap, but i have a really cool boat in Phnom Penh(Mekong Tara Prince) it was built by the French in 1985 for H.R.H Prince Norodom Sirivuadh, of the Royal Family, we have restored it back in 2013 and use it for our sunset cruisers in Phnom Penh and also our cruise/road tours from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap . she is 60 ft long and can cater for 35 people, its a really cool vessel, we added a bar , GPS and solar and a bigger engine:)Miguelito wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 8:05 pmThat sounds cool. i think its an old saying that goes way back, i have always tended to refer to a ship as a she and also large boats, i guess the reason i was told is that mostly men operated ships back in the day(a women on board was considered bad luck) and guys used to think affectionately of there ships, i think to really answer this question i would be referred to as sexist in todays thinking, but the old saying was just like a women,if you care for a ship and look after her,she will look after you, but years ago when i was a young man, i worked for the department of defense(Navy) in sydney and visited many Navy ships when they docked at Garden Island, this was in the 70s and i can remember mostly the ships where named after cities in Australia, ie H.M.A.S Brisbane, H.M.A.S Canberra, H.M.A.S Adelaide ect, so not a female name but the sailors referred to there ships as she:)
