People not self-quarantining
People not self-quarantining
Seems to be almost the norm. Do your two days in the hotel then just carry on as normal.
I don't have enough knowledge to know if it's a threat or not. The people I've met (5, and I don't get about much) seem to think it's perfectly ok.
Hands up then. Who is not doing it? Reply as a guest if necessary.
And what are the general thoughts on this - Ok or not ok?
I should add I would find it very hard to do.

I’ve had a few friends come back and largely they did it. One would go out to a restaurant for takeaway each evening and another ordered food in all the time and didn’t leave his apartment at all.
Another was a bit flakey and tried to set up some meetings during initial period but as far as I know our circle all said ‘sure, let’s catch up in 2 weeks’

With the levels of personal hygiene exhibited here I think expats coming back in with COVID are still lower risk than the general population. When this is all said & done, I think somebody really needs to dig into Cambodia's COVID data which stands out like a sore thumb around the world - is it simply fantastic management by the big cheese, or is it as simple as lack of tourists/transit due to Thailand/Vietnam/Malaysia/Singapore shutting down plus a good dose of Kingdom of Wonder Vitamin D?
Even if there were a huge number of undiagnosed cases, the hospitals & morgues are not filling up to my knowledge; deaths are entirely normal statistically, it's a bit of a freak that nobody globally wants to talk about. In the USA they're all "Look at Sweden!" - which has actually faired very badly versus neighbouring Norway & Finland - they should be saying "Look at Cambodia!".

Or look at Vietnam which has done a very good job nailing both of its outbreaks and is a far more populous country.
My gut is Cambodia has managed because its shut itself down and doesn't border any basket-cases. I'd be worried if I was in Thailand given Myanmar is a total shit-show.

Not forgetting Laos also has low infection numbers and no deaths.
And a few fucks flying in from Europe can screw all the successes.
Just met another one, out enjoying himself and thinking he's terribly clever, hence my ire.

Does anyone really believe places like Cambodia and Laos have been as successful as they claim?
It’s weird that 440 - so quick to accuse the authorities of lies, cheating, coverups and corruption in everything else - is so keen to accept the totally unbelievable official figures on this one issue.

They might be embellishing the numbers but it would be almost impossible to cover up a full blown pandemic.

Define full blown pandemic Harold. Most youngsters who catch it are asymptomatic. And you can guarantee there are few tests happening.
When most deaths in the country are recorded as ‘heart stop’ or ‘wind’ is it too much to suggest the records are not up to much?

It's something that is often discussed, and it's hard for people living here to believe either. Yet there is no reason or evidence that suggests otherwise. Funerals are out on the street here and I haven't noticed any more than usual. I haven't noticed anyone complaining about flu-like symptoms themselves or concerning their families - and I do deal with a large number of people weekly. Maybe loads of people have it but they are asymptomatic - they just haven't been tested? I just don't know.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
That’s my point LL. Cambodia is a young population and most cases in the young go undetected in the west, let alone in a third world country with no health infrastructure.
The new wave in the U.K. is entirely driven by the 16-29 age group who make up the vast majority of cases, but it is mainly the elderly who are being hospitalised, it having passed from the asymptomatic young to the elderly.
Your point about funerals is valid but there has been no uptick in overall mortality rates in the U.K. (except for a brief period in April).

The main risks we face from those not adhering to the requirements of self-quarantine for the remaining 14 days after release from mandatory monitored quarantine, are stricter restrictions implemented in the event there is any community transmission.
If we start seeing community transmission, the Govt could start imposing lockdowns, closing schools again, restaurants, bars, mandatory 14 day monitored hotel quarantine on arrival, etc....all of which would have a far greater impact on peoples livelihoods and the economy than that of the actual virus itself.
It's 14 days total for fk sake, it's not that difficult...there is no excuse for disobeying government directives and going to.pool parties, bars, etc. Like that cheese eating surrender monkey in SR who then tested positive on day 13.... numpties like that will fk it up for everyone else.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
Collective hysteria. The problem isn't the virus the problem is exponential human growth.
Thank you.PSD_Kiwi wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 8:11 pmThe main risks we face from those not adhering to the requirements of self-quarantine for the remaining 14 days after release from mandatory monitored quarantine, are stricter restrictions implemented in the event there is any community transmission.
