I MIGHT work? EG better than ER? Docs needed?

I have an air ticket out of Cambodia departing early May, less than 7 months after I arrived. (I very much expect to use it then, but, as a Covid era travel incentive, the airline issued it as a 'flexible ticket', allowing a rebooking at, no-charge, or a very low fee.)
I have a Type E entry visa (EF, Ordinary/Family) that expires in less than 10 days.
I have no work plans, but I may, after Christmas, look to see what is available. From what I have read on Khmer440, a six-month EG Extension of Stay seems my best choice, as it allows me to apply for work if I find some to my liking. Is this correct?
Even if correct about the EG EoS, I still have a few questions:
1) I think I recall a six-month extension, is actually a 180-day extension?
2) Day 1 of the extension is the day FOLLOWING the latter date stamped in my passport by the airport immigration officer? (And not starting the day my EoS is processed. Flight/visa dates will be tight. I'll need to count carefully.)
3) If I for some reason don't depart early May, and stay more than my 180-day EoS, I may be able to get a 1-month extension of my EG visa, IF the special exception allowing this, due to the pandemic, has not yet been revoked. Or, has it been revoked already?
4) If I do find work during the EG Eos, when do I need to change it to a EB EoS, before my fist paycheque, or only when the first EoS expires?
And,
5) What is work? Sitting with the family on the farm, I already helped shuck a few ears of corn? When does un-paid volunteer work need a work visa, work permit, etc., etc.?

I understand the above post is already hopelessly boring, but being the kind of person I am, I'll just add another dull bit to make it longer.
6) What, if any, documents need to be shown when applying for an EG Extension of Stay?
Thanks!
Don't be fallin' back to sleep now, hear!

EOS are taking two weeks at present. I’d get your arse into gear.

Cheers. Will do. Didn't know they took so long to process.
Two week hotel quarantine without passport. Passport returned to me on day 15 with the weekend ahead. The earliest my passport could have arrived back at immigration would have been well under 2 weeks. AND, I at least wanted time to try getting part of the Covid bank deposit back. As I'm not in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville or Siem Reap guess that will need to wait til after the visa extension.
Getting my ass gearing as I write, but maybe they could start offering a TWO-Month Entry visa, at least for the duration of mandatory Govt quarantine. Is there any GOOD reason to NOT make Ordinary visas 60 days?

No supporting documentation needed for an EG then it’ll be a monthly renewal until further notice.
To get an EB you’ll need a job from a registered business with a tax patent certificate. Even volunteers need an EB, and WP.
If you go ER you can’t then get an EB.

Yes, I understand Facebook is perhaps a better social network than Khmer440, at least in some ways, but ever since I learned how he mistreated those sweet Vinklevoss twin boys, even to the extent that the spelling of their last name is in doubt, and not only for me, but for billions around the planet, well, I would rather weep than try to recover my long forgotten password!
So, one more thing, why do you say, "then it’ll be a monthly renewal until further notice" ? Don't they do initial 6 month EG Extensions of stay?

Yep, and subsequently finding out, that your request is processed the day after you hand in your PP.
6 months should be 180 days, though I never tried it.Guest999 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 9:48 amI have an air ticket out of Cambodia departing early May, less than 7 months after I arrived. My ER connected nicely for 1 year on the expiry date of the original 30 days Ordinary visa.
I am not sure, if an EG could be extended. I don't think so. EG visa seem to be for first time Cambodia visitors.
Conversion to EB: I think, the moment you do have a job (and as such an employer able to provide paperwork) you should convert to an EB. Gov. checking that would be difficult.
Work is something a Cambodian could do, with a focus on physical labor (including punching a keyboard), though the moment you get paid and/or have responsibility, also a managers' role would be work. Helping the family with general advice might not qualify as working (or at least, I do that a lot on an ER). If somebody does have a better definition, feel free to chime in.
EG can normally be extended up to 6 months but due to Covid-19 restrictions it can currently only be extended monthly.
Converting from EG to EB is no problem assuming you have a job and a work permit.
Conversion from ER is complicated. I think a fresh passport is needed.

I would not worry that much. I did send in my ER application roughly a week before the entry visa expiry and nobody complained (apart from the visa handling agent, bla, bla, bla). I think, it's more that they "keep" your passport for 2 weeks before you get it back. Especially now, with very low visitor counts, they aren't busy at all, renewing visa. My extension was processed just the day after I did hand in my PP at the end of the afternoon at the Visa agent.Guest999 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 12:53 pmCheers. Will do. Alexandra, sorry to repeat, even the first EG extension of stay after arrival in country MUST be just 1 month?

Yes, that is correct. You arrive on a 1 month E type visa which you may extend with 1 month EG extension monthly.Guest999 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 4:06 pmAlexandra, sorry to repeat, even the first EG extension of stay after arrival in country MUST be just 1 month?
Without Corona restrictions you would be able to arrive with 1 month E type, extend with 6 month EG, and 7 months after arrival leave the country and re-enter on a fresh E visa which you extend for 6 months again.
Incorrect. First EG is now six months then 1 month thereafter.
