The greedy, just for profit education system in cambodia.
The greedy, just for profit education system in cambodia.
After working as a teacher in multiple countries in Asia I have noticed that there always is an ongoing battle for schools between being more profitable for the investors or providing a higher level of education. I think it's a common thing and I understand that investors want to see a certain return of there money, but never have I ever seen the balance so uneven as in Cambodia.
The particular school I am working currently has there values weight out so badly that it doesn't just affect the education of their pupils but also cuts in to the wages of the teachers just to satisfy the investors greed.
Since we went to online teaching the teachers have been putting excessive amounts of energy in to making sure that the students still get there worth of education but we were not payed back for any of the efforts. On top of that there is a big portion of the parents that requesting the school for a discount on the tuition fee, fair enough because most of them have been getting lower salaries due to Covid and they also feel that they shouldn't be paying for school busses and school lunches anymore.
So now comes the school with only bottom end profit in their mind, therefor definitely no discount for the parents but also a 50% pay-cut for the teachers. I understand than I am on wrong side of the equation but in what world is this a fair way of dealing with you customers and your staff.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
You DESERVE that cut regardless of context.making sure that the students still get there worth of education
Find any job that doesn't imply teaching English.

OP your grammar and English are just woeful. If you are indeed a teacher you certainly merit a pay cut or, better still, dismissal.

Tough crowd...
Parents have been protesting outside CIA for a while. It really doesn’t make sense that they should pay for a bus they don’t use and a lunch they don’t eat.
At least at CIS the lunch payments roll over on the next term and there’s discounts on enrollment. Changing schools now is not ideal but worth a thought.anonymous504 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 1:49 pmOn top of that there is a big portion of the parents that requesting the school for a discount on the tuition fee, fair enough because most of them have been getting lower salaries due to Covid and they also feel that they shouldn't be paying for school busses and school lunches anymore.

What is it with CIA First that attracts so many protestors? I haven't heard of other schools experiencing this.

Yeah, I signed up Micro for a test-month at kindergarten school and then the lockdowns came. Only one week school for USD 100
Obviously not extended, although she liked it very much.
Later-on, I got the school offer to have her kindergarten done through Zoom. Just 4 years old and zoom "schooling", go figure .....

Speaking of teaching. Is there a job market for expats in SEA countries to teach computer programming? Part-time or whatever. Asking for a friend.

I think CIA First has a larger enrolment than most schools. Parents there also seem to be a bit more middle class (and more financially affected by covid) than those at some other third-tier schools.
