Biospace.com (no idea what their bias is, never read there before, but hosted on Amazon and sounds at least neutral-ish)
Spoiler. As expected, from bats, via another animal is most likely, and the wet market may, or may not, have been the epicentre.
Not officially public yet, but lots of criticism about process already. That said, sounds like they tried. **
A Quote from end of Biospace article:
The report also indicates that this study is just the beginning. A primary recommendation at the end of the report is for investigators to visit the farms and interview the owners, their relatives and test individuals to try and find evidence on whether they were infected with COVID-19 earlier than those that first appeared in Wuhan. They would then attempt to track the animals the farms supplied
**Certainly I trust the WHO team's expertise much more than some Philippines based American father/son duo admonishing gushing fans to do the research. Then eventually mentioning some of the odd sites where they do research.
W.H.O. Covid Origins Report to be officially released soon
I don’t know what kind of investigation they can do on a wet market over a year after the breakout. Didn’t they mostly just speak to people that repeated the official narrative?
It’s not like someone will say “oh, that virus? It came from the lab”. I don’t really understand the value of the investigation.

This whole "investigation" will result in a report that is acceptable by the Chinese. They will not uncover the root cause after this long. The lab/government has shutdown critical databases regarding lab research there taken place around the outbreak. People will have transferred to different positions or threatened to remain silent (market and/or lab). So what is the chance that a virus like this pops up near the lab in a country that size? Maybe our kids will ever learn the true story.
Molecular genetics can give pretty good evidence. Some US University looked at it many months ago and said it hadn't been engineered. It might have evolved to infect humans naturally and they stored it a while in a lab before cleverly releasing it on their own people to better con the world. But WHO didn't think that was most likely.
Better, later genetic analysis might give some answers. Time will tell.

They probably will not be teaching our children much history at that point.Pooh Bear wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 1:52 pmThis whole "investigation" will result in a report that is acceptable by the Chinese. Anyway, I read somewhere that Dr. Shi Zhengli was keen to host the investigation team at the Wuhan Lab... Then, there is the good doctor Peter Daszak, also along for the ride, and himself the center of some curious conspiracy theories about his involvement with corona-viral research just prior to the outbreak... What a world...

China withdrew from WHO last year. Did WHO lose a lot of money because of that? I don’t know if membership is financially backed or not.
Is there an incentive for WHO to clear China’s name? It’s hard to deny the risk of bias.

Haven't read whole thread but doesn't China have its people in key positions throughout the WHO like any self-respecting evil super power?

No, the U.S. withdrew, but that was a Trump order not due to take effect until July this year... which would explain also why Daszak was in Wuhan, as he is American and a Trump target, too... Biden reversed Trump's order practically on day one...
You are just trying to get people to post replies, aren't you?

The WHO have said the Wuhan lab leak theory needs probe. Fair enough, but consider this:
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-56581246
Cold-chain import theory
China has refuted claims the virus originated in a lab and says that although Wuhan is where the first cluster of cases was detected, it is not necessarily where the virus originated. State media has claimed that the virus may have arrived in Wuhan on frozen food imports.

@kinard welcome to the future of war. The frozen food claim is one of the more recent variations of China in an attempt to cover up the real cause. Create enough alternative theories/fake news and each will have to be investigated + the general public is getting tired and start to lose interest.
It is funny to see the WHO now finally talks about the lab again. Have they left the country already? It will be hard to find data there as databases have been taken offline. If it came from there they might have to rely on inteligence services from the West or Russia and HUMINT. But the latter is hard to find in China. They also had over a year to clean any trace and fabricate their own story.
Has Bellingcat already done some digging?
