Curious you mention drinking, because my Grab driver last night had an open can of beer in his drinks holder.

I cancelled the ride and ordered a new one. He was pretty pissed off with me.

The reason being that as a foreigner, Cambodian laws made it difficult for foreigner to buy and own a car. To rent a car is very expensive for an average tourists and not well established here. It not like other countries have rental hire car companies for you to choose from. As far as I know of only 2 companies here are Europcar or Lyna Car rental.nerdlinger wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 5:27 pmI’m surprised there’s only 1 car owner. There must be fewer Americans in the group than I thought.
Cheapest method is to rent or buy is moto or motorcycle for expats.
It couldn't be easier to buy a car.Yankees992012 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 3:23 pmThe reason being that as a foreigner, Cambodian laws made it difficult for foreigner to buy and own a car. Yeah, I’m wondering what is difficult? I can’t even guess which laws he might be referring to.RobW wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:03 pmIt couldn't be easier to buy a car.Yankees992012 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 3:23 pmThe reason being that as a foreigner, Cambodian laws made it difficult for foreigner to buy and own a car. I've been using my ebike for ~6 years now it is still going strong.
No problems with police even when riding the wrong way on a one way street or riding on the side walk it is looked at as just a bicycle.
No real maintenance costs other than a couple of broke spokes and not any change in the electric bill even with 2 ebikes, mine and my wife's.

You can get a car for less than $2 for a 20-30 minute walk. The driver will either be the same experienced guy all the time....his spot is near your spot.
Or someone on their first day with not high enough AC and needing the computer for directions.

I have a car, two moto (small and big big) and a mountain bike.
Very rarely take a TukTuk and when I do it’s always the old style not those PassApps - which are uncomfortable, hot and restricted view.
