"The most ridiculous ways companies are trying to profit from the coronavirus outbreak"
Most recent news is doom and gloom, especially when it comes to the economy and small businesses.
But in hard hit areas, some companies are thriving. What crazy/exciting/legit ideas are the people around you coming up with to stay in business or even start new business during the current crisis?
I know someone out there is refining their toilet paper making skills.

Well, I was reading a report from a Scottish doctor in the Guardian whose medical practice broke one of its £25 thermometers last week, and their usual medical supplier's wanted £125 to replace it. Nothing new though. Same old shit.
And I'm 100% certain many 'doctors' and district 'nurses' in the less developed world are selling 'medicine' and human body parts to cure the virus. Also nothing new there.

Up the workers!
I’ve noticed a lot of random people recommend a business in Kampot via FB, with the obligatory “Love you guys” single message.
Or a “KNY special” post.
People are getting desperate already. Fuck running a business here. Ever.

Someone's going to find a way to make an honest fortune off this crisis. Will be watching the press to see how it's done, so next time something like this happens, I'm a bit more prepared.

Ok, which one of you businessmen is buying bulk alcohol to make hand sanitizer and watering it down to useless levels and selling it in unmarked bottles to poor uneducated Khmer?
Up the workers!
I know this thread is a bit old, but I've definitely seen some companies taking advantage of the current situation. It's pretty ridiculous.
I've seen 'Christian' missionaries take advantage of this situation

What's the current situation?
What does ‘taking advantage of’ mean? And why does it automatically mean something the negative.
The place I work completely shifted its business model during the pandemic to do two key things: first we actively encouraged (without forcing) people to relocate from London to other cities. We found people were tired of the big city and wanted a change of lifestyle. This enabled us to increase profitability without impacting what we offered clients, and hugely benefited the staff who moved. It also allowed us to significantly reduce London office costs.
Then we allow anyone to work from where ever they want. Again, no issues with performance. In fact we find productivity has increased.
The result is three years of massively enhanced growth and profitability.
Win win.

Pfizer did pretty well selling vaccines that don't work.
"Goodness me! Now STD free..."
