No reason why AP wouldn't work in Cambodia if the roads have white lines, either central or on the sides.jackrossi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 6:05 pmThe Tesla model on aeon is the cheapest low cost version, from the Chinese factory.
A great car at 35.000$ but at the price they sell it here with the autopilot that likely won't work because it's an unofficial import i don't think it's worth it.
Also because it is an unofficial import i don't know how good the service will be.
Still i am very curious to see (if the autopilot can be turned on in Cambodia) how does it deal with tuck tucks and the roads here.

A crash within an hour ? Maybe 30 minutes.jackrossi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 6:05 pmThe Tesla model on aeon is the cheapest low cost version, from the Chinese factory.

The autopilot heavily relies on the mapping info. I don't think, that'll be available for Cambodia. And IF available, it'll be highly out of date. Let alone the surprises about all those sudden road changes.logos wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 11:47 pmNo reason why AP wouldn't work in Cambodia if the roads have white lines, either central or on the sides.jackrossi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 6:05 pmThe Tesla model on aeon is the cheapest low cost version, from the Chinese factory.

It easily recognises motos, bicycles and pedestrians so Tuk Tuk wouldn't be an issue.
Basic AP with those functions come free with the car.
What wouldn't work are functions like "navigate on AP" where you input a destination on the dashboard and the car drives there. It's functional in the US but not in Europe, where that "self driving" function covers the main roads but not the smaller ones nor the roundabouts. It basically means you're driving by yourself once you enter a downtown area.
I think in Cambodia AP would work fine on boulevards like monivong or Norodom but not on streets 440 & similar.
Basic AP covers >95% of all roads in Europe including national roads and motorways. Limited to 150 km/h even in Germany.
What I wonder about connectivity in Cambodia. Teslas are normally connected meaning you can stream Spotify while driving, or Netflix in park mode. Hell you could even read the forum on the Tesla screen. Will starlink allow that in Cambodia? No idea

Yeah, look at the car and sometimes be able to use old-fashioned technics to do some basic level repairs.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 11:18 amPlenty of third party repairers in the US and don’t they repair Hybrid batteries here?v12 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 10:35 pmYeah, the car is dull, the spirit comes from the hype and the acceleration kick.
The desert comes, when something breaks down, and you have to cough up significantly at an official Tesla "stealership", since third parties can't repair as Tesla. It's "throw-away" stuff.

Nonsense. There’s third party authorized repairers and parts are a plenty. A lot of the components aren’t made by Tesla but are generally available and they buy them in. Also third party body repairers have to get genuine Tesla parts. Tesla don’t repair all accident damaged cars.v12 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 5:12 pmYeah, look at the car and sometimes be able to use old-fashioned technics to do some basic level repairs.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 11:18 amPlenty of third party repairers in the US and don’t they repair Hybrid batteries here?v12 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 10:35 pmYeah, the car is dull, the spirit comes from the hype and the acceleration kick.

Though, the moment you need Tesla parts, you're out of luck, these aren't available outside the official repair shops, which in turn won't deliver to third parties.

Maybe in the US, though the general complaint in the EU around Tesla repairs is the non-availability of documentation as well dedicated Tesla parts.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 5:37 pmNonsense. There’s second hand parts availability and if a Tesla (or any other car) is new it’s still under warranty and shouldn’t need major repairs, generally.

Yep, if you want to start a dealership, you need all the tools, but with only a grant, you can get very far, when the interfaces to the electronics are open.
Yeah, but just as an example, what they did try to accomplish, and it failed. And I just listed the reason why it failed.

Looks intriguing to me, to have navigation without detailed mapping. How to know where to drive, which roads, etc, when not having map data available ? "Autopilot" does come with several levels of knowledge with corresponding automation. Cameras only is not enough.
