How much more advice do you need?mookuy wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 10:57 amThanks.Phuket2006 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 11:40 ami use metfone fiber to the house, pay 6 months in advance get 7, ( pay 12 months get 3-4 free) $18/month
pay for 18 mbs, get around 22, plenty fast enough for streaming on android box and downloading. & whats app video calls
In fact as fast as my 200 mbs connection i had in Phuket,
https://www.metfone.com.kh/en/registerftth
You only wrote that recently, but this page https://www.metfone.com.kh/en/registerftth says 17mbps is $30/month and 19mbps is $35/month.
Any idea why the prices are so different to yours?
I'm desperately trying to find a new ISP asap and it's hard to know what to choose between Ezecom (50mbps @ $29/month), MekongNet (20mbps @ $27/month), SiNet (expensive - 50mbps @ $36.67 per month) and maybe, since you're recommending them, Metfone.
Any advice, anyone, not just Phuket2006? Thanks. (I'm in Chbar Ampov).
Ask on any of the Facebook groups ‘which internet company is the best’ and you’ll get half a dozen different responses saying theirs is the best.
For me, it isn’t about outages - every company will have issues from time to time but the speed of addressing the issue and customer service is the most important thing. For that, Ezecom has been great for me.
If you are in a Borey then you likely will be restricted as to which company you can use anyway.
If you are wary then pay for a few months and test it, then extend if you are content… but that will cost you more than the (higher risk) long term contract. If you just pay for 3/6 months then you may need to pay for installation yourself.
Or, Ask your neighbours what they use, get local feedback from them, ask to use their Wi-Fi and run a speed test.
Then just go ahead and sign up. Don’t tink too mutt

Ezecom is Openet now.
I’d go Sinet but as stated above they also have outages. Same as Metfone, especially if that undersea cable has issues that the youn seem to have issues with on a regular basis.

I used to have an app which sent me a notification when internet went down - even just for 10 seconds - it was a real nuisance, you’d be surprised how often internet goes down and we don’t even notice.
That seems attractive. However, why is there such a difference with the normal Home Plus packages?Phuket2006 wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 1:05 pmits now 20 mbs for $18

Because this 'Game' plan only tells you the LOCAL internet speed, not the international speed.
Update: despite the promise my fixed IP has become dynamic. This started somewhere last week... I guess it is time to call again. If easy stuff like this already can't be done I wonder how more complex things are handled at the ISP...
I'll take Smart as backup option. Depending on my phone call I might promote it to primary connection.

My contract with DIGI has been taken over by Ezecom, only ofund out after running a speed test

Interesting read if we also keep the national gateway/firewall in mind. A larger majority of providers are coming under direct control of "the family". If that is a good idea is something to make up yourself. Seems we should be prepared for price hikes and outages. Here a day long one yesterday (opennet).

@xinyua we talk about providers and widescale traffic interception/monitoring. Not individual companies who censor and harvest data. So you might want to compare it to the Russian and Chinese state firewall models.
EU and USA do not really have a similar system in place. Interception is mostly done by intelligence and law enforcement units. Some censorship by labeling things "fake news" and of course the mentioned companies. But most have no direct result on your personal freedom like the social credit system of China, jail in Russia or here/Thailand when you post stuff the King or PM do not like.
