Google Chromecast
Google Chromecast
I wonder if anyone uses Google Chromecast. I just want to be able to watch Youtube on my TV. I am not a tech guy and wonder if it is complicated to use. Is there much free content? I am on a pension and dont want to pay for any subscription. Are they tough to set up? Thanks

Chromecast are great. Its very easy to set up. It should only take a minute or two out of the box. Just plug it into your tv HDMI and set up Google Home on your phone. There are bound to be many step by step videos on Youtube.
I use Chromecast no issues, easy to put videos up on my TVs.
You can also use hdmi wire direct from laptop.

You may also want to look into something like the Amazon Firestick. Both are similar in many aspects but you may find the Firestick easier to use as it has a standalone remote control. You may even find different uses/needs to have both as I do.
Check if your TV has a YouTube app. TVs lose value so fast you may actually be able to get a couple year old smart TV with a YouTube app cheaper than a Chromecast.
If you have an iPhone, iPad or Apple laptop and an AirPlay compatible TV then you can use that too.

The new model Chromecasts also have a remote and a UI.kansaicanuck wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 2:15 amYou may also want to look into something like the Amazon Firestick. I think Google is pushing people towards Google TV which I understand is not cheap to use each month. I just want to watch Youtube on a large screen and pay no fees. Put up with the ads I guess.
What is that?
afaik google TV is just android TV that's been rebranded.
