According to the statement, ‘the investigation was painstakingly conducted, and revealed the case not in any way to involve suicide.’
The skeletal remains of Vallier and his children were found in and about the family vehicle which had been sunk in a pond behind their residence in Tuol Chnong Village, Roka Tom Commune, Chbar Mon Town, Kampong Speu Province, on the morning of the 14th of January, 2012, after the French-Cambodian family had gone missing in September, 2011.
The embassy statement came as the French investigating judge in charge of this case and her team from Cambodia were preparing to leave Cambodia.
In the statement, the investigating judge, Claudine Something ក្លូឌីន អង់ហ្វ៊ូ and her team expressed their heartfelt gratitude to police, the courts, and Cambodian authorities at every level for their complete cooperation with their investigation. The exchange of information regarding the case, the procedural allowing for a scientific investigation of the case and the many questions asked, all were made possible through Cambodia’s effective and tireless cooperation.

Finally, an official statement saying what we knew all the time.
But are the French team now leaving the inept Kompong Kops to fill in the missing pieces?

I came, I argued, I'm out
typo in the 3rd paragraph. Should read 'team,' not 'team from Cambodia.'

Dictated to a slave and sent by carrier pigeon.

Me too - the village is very near to my family's, and I related some time back what the locals believe (clue: the next door neighbours, who seem to be off the radar as attention is focused on the in-laws). My hunch is it will pan out the same as it did before - nothing will happen.

Gotta hand it to the French for sending in investigators. The Americans never would have done something like that to help one of their citizens, unless the was some political hay to be made.

Though I am a big fan of the 'follow the money' strategy in narrowing down the list of suspects, I still have a hard time accepting that somebody would kill their own grandchildren, even if they're half white and there's profit in it. The barang, sure, we're nothing. But their own blood? If be looking at the next most likely to profit after the in-laws.andyinasia wrote:Me too - the village is very near to my family's, and I related some time back what the locals believe (clue: the next door neighbours, who seem to be off the radar as attention is focused on the in-laws). Judging from the PPP police blotter, Cambodians will sometimes kill their own family members for 3,000 riel.LTO wrote: I still have a hard time accepting that somebody would kill their own grandchildren, even if they're half white and there's profit in it. If they find proof they did in their own grandkids, no barang married to a Khmer will view their inlaws the same again. Becoming more like Thailand by the day...cityscapes were bad enough, now this potential.LTO wrote:Though I am a big fan of the 'follow the money' strategy in narrowing down the list of suspects, I still have a hard time accepting that somebody would kill their own grandchildren, even if they're half white and there's profit in it.
