Good riddance to the peddling scum bag.
Belgian gets life for smuggling kilo of coke into Cambodia - iBurger bloke - Phnom-Penh
David was a nice guy and I'm thinking that he probably died of passive smoking. He complained about it before and almost everyone is a smoker in the prison block.
Imagine being in a room where 80 or 90 people are smoking and you're shoulder to shoulder with them.

DDW is currently in Belgium where he runs Wolfwide.be and claims to write "words that sell."
Death of David (39) in Cambodian cell may have serious consequences for Bruggeling Tanguy (41): “Our son is innocent in the cell. Only David could plead him free.”

Sad. Foil guys for the Bassac Lane come mafia.
^ WTF - there's a Bassac Lane mafia? Do they all wear those suits cut too short that make your bum wiggle with pointy brown shoes?
Isn't the Pie Man part of that group?
It was well documented here although I believe they have all moved on their separate ways due to business location change and in the ownership due to one partners' reputation soiling their image. So I assume the gang is no more

The Supreme Court yesterday upheld the conviction of a Belgium man, sentenced by the lower court to life in connection with transporting more than one kilogram of cocaine from Brazil to Cambodia’s Phnom Penh International Airport, in 2018.
Presiding Juge Nil Nonn named the convict as Tanguy Eddie J. Taller, 37, a Belgium freelance designer.
“The convict was sentenced on December 18, 2018, by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to a life sentence in prison and a fine of $20,000 for drug trafficking under Article 40 of Cambodia’s Law on Drugs Control.
“Tanguy appealed to the Phnom Penh Appeal Court, who upheld his conviction on April 6, 2020. He then appealed to the Supreme Court”.
“Tanguy was arrested on October 4, 2019, at the Cambodian-Vietnamese-Border, in Svay Rieng Province’s Bavet City, after he had crossed the border from Vietnam and checked in with the Cambodian Immigration Police office”.
Tanguy Eddie Taller arrives at the Phnom Penh Appeal Court in October 2021.
“The convict was arrested in accordance with the court’s arrest warrant and according to David Catry Noel’s confession,” he said.
According to court documents, police in the anti-drug department in the Ministry of Interior on January 10, 2018 arrested Noel, 34, after arriving at the Phnom Penh International Airport from Brazil with 1,003.24 grams of cocaine hidden in his suitcase.
At police interrogation, Noel claimed the drugs seized from him belonged to Taller.
He said Tanguy had hired him and given him $30,000 for transporting the drugs from Brazil to an unidentified Nigerian man living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Taller denied Noel’s accusation, saying that he was unaware of Noel’s activities and was not involved in the crime.
Noel was sentenced on June 22, 2018, by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to a life sentence and fined 80 million riels ($2,000).
The municipal court also sentenced Tanguy in absentia to a life sentence and a fine of 80 million riels and the court issued his arrest warrant at that time.

Bringing the news. You stay classy, nas, Cambodia.
Question: I often see convicted people getting steep fines, in this case it was only $2K
I'm assuming in many cases the convicted person has little or no cash, what happens then, and where does the money go? To victims? Or to shiny new stuff?

I guess? Like if you’re giving someone a life sentence there doesn’t seem much point fining them more money than they have, cause you ain’t ever gonna see any of it anyway - just makes for an accounting headache.reindeer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 9:20 amQuestion: I often see convicted people getting steep fines, in this case it was only $2K

I'm always a bit nervous somebody is going to sneak a bunch of drugs in my luggage and I land 30 years in jail.
Tanguy worked at a bar (H-#) owned by someone who owned another bar known for having a secret back room where people did cocaine (since closed / changed hands).
Very suspicious.
