Well it definitely ain't the beaches anymore.
Cambodia is no country for old men.
It's an exciting destination to enjoy when you are young.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I kinda accepted it when Spit said it, but when you queried it... I thought about it and I suspect probably not.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 4:33 pmIs it? Though 'young' should probably be defined

I'll never forget spending some hours with a barang who got ripped off of his bicycle after a thief tried to grab his bag in the wee small hours. Broke his hip, and the clinic treated him like he deserved it.
"He's drunk!!"
I hope he is well, wherever he may be, and he healed OK.
I just can't have any faith in healthcare over there.
That would scare me with regards to family.

One of the things you need for retirement (or, that age group) is affordable, quality healthcare. it's not here, retire somewhere else.

I spent my late teens and twenties in London. That was an exciting place to be at the time. Phnom Penh in the early 90s would have been an exciting place to be too. Nowadays both are kind of meh.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 5:54 pmI kinda accepted it when Spit said it, but when you queried it... It's safer to be in Kiev than it is to be in London as a teenagerLucky Lucan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 12:14 amI spent my late teens and twenties in London. I won't argue that Cambodia is The Best country for exciting exploration, young or old, but there is still plenty of exciting exploration to be had. Get off into more remote places on a motor or push bike, adventure still awaits.
How great it is as a retirement destination probably depends what stage of retirement you are in. Healthcare IS an issue. However, if you seek an active retirement for your 60's, & perhaps 70's IF you have good health, I think it is fine. If you mean a sunny place to be for your last rapidly declining years, you could do better.
