So it shows Thailand where the last US base closed in 1976 and Cambodia which had a repair facility built by the US at Ream for a few years? I'm still confused about Myanmar and China being marked, and the Chinese mark is nowhere near Taiwan or even Hong Kong.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 5:22 pmI think the jist of the image is US forces in countries not in North America at any time. I’m not sure what it is showing.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
It shows, chap, that a very large number of people in the world, pertinently here very many Chinese and Russians, see western aggression on their borders.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 6:47 pmSo it shows Thailand where the last US base closed in 1976 and Cambodia which had a repair facility built by the US at Ream for a few years? Let’s get onto the accuracy of it. It makes a good point, one we’ve all been aware of.
Anyhoo, I doubt they have bases in Taiwan and HK. They’re Chinese after all.

The English Channel is a tiny strip of water between France and England. If it were the equivalent of the South China Sea Conceit, it would have to extend to encompass the waters around Europe, also including Scandinavia, Iceland and Greenland.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 5:27 pmNo, it’s called the English Channel, which is in Europe last time I checked. Britannia Rules the Waves, GREAT Britain?JollyBee wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 2:46 pmI suppose you do know that all the sea around Europe, Africa, India and America is called The English Sea. No, of course it isn't/wasn't. Even the English wouldn't be so egregiously arrogant and bursting with false pride to do that.
Plus, I am sick at all the Asians cheating everytime I play a game with them. Whether it be cards or tennis. It's really not a good sign for a world dominating power. The
British Empire was built on Justice and Decency. We brought the rule of law and order, not cheating and backdealing..
It’s ironic that the name South China Sea was actually created by the English and European settlers. In Chinese it’s 南海 meaning “South Sea”.
Have a word with yourself you flog.

The thing about getting brainwashed is a brain is a prerequisite.
Slavery?
The Opium Wars?
The British East India company?
Mau-Mau?
Bengal famine?
Amritsar Massacre?
The partitioning of India?
Economic and cultural pillaging?
Northern Ireland?
The Boer War?
Fire bombing of Dresden, Hamburg?
Cheating and backdealing? LOL. How many different groups did you promise Palestine to?
And don't start with the 'roads and railways, schools and hospitals' diversion, they were mostly built to export raw materials, enable the movement of troops, and service expats and govt administrators within colonies
But, tbf, let's be honest, the Belgians and Dutch, French and Spanish, Portuguese et al were probably more brutal.
Yes that’s true but also the UK is very small.JollyBee wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 1:09 amThe English Channel is a tiny strip of water between France and England. See those cows over there. They’re small but the cows over there are big.

Precisely. But what they left behind is important. You just need to ask their former colonies. Many would admit that the rule of law is an important part of any decent human community. Sadly missing now that the British have left. Real law. British law.covidsux wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 4:56 amBwahahaha!JollyBee wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 2:46 pmThe British Empire was built on Justice and Decency. We all know how Asian law is meted out, or at least should do by now.
The Germans left nothimg but a hole in the ground after their colonial activities.
Most of the other things on your list I would attribute to the Americans or Chinese themselves.
But let's not talk about European attrocities just because we admit to them where as China will never admit to it's own damnable attrocities in the past and much more recent times.
Ughurs, Hong Kong, dissidents etc etc etc.
I mean, selling people's organs because they don't agree with you. And removing them while alive and without any anesthetic. The list goes on and on.

Is JollyBee upset with China because we call the sea is ‘South China Sea’, even though in China they don’t call it that.
It’s hard to keep up with all the outrage these days.

China used 'debt trap diplomacy' to gain control over Sri Lanka: Think tank

SQUAWK!!!!
I often see that term used and I'm not that intelligent to think otherwise. Seems like a good plan - in-debt governments then "own" their assets.TheRaven wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 12:08 pmChina used 'debt trap diplomacy' to gain control over Sri Lanka: Think tank

However, I thought the point of the Belt and Road was to increase the transportation of China's goods so they can sell more shit to more people and building and improving infrastructure will increase a countries spending power (that's the mantra that governments all over the world have stated). How does crippling a countries economy achieve that?

Sri Lanka mismanaged their economy and China seems to have been in the position to take advantage of that. The situation is quite different here as the loans from China are a much smaller proportion of GDP.

Ha, more rubbish. Indeed. I read an article about it and the government there should all be fired, starting with the finance minister.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 2:56 pmSri Lanka mismanaged their economy and China seems to have been in the position to take advantage of that. Utter shambles. China actually tried to re jig the contract and extend the timeframe but Sri Lanka basically tried to hoodwink them and lied about pretty much everything so China has no choice.
