Is demand increasing or is this work caused by a lack of maintenance in previous years?
We now twice had a severe power outage the past few months. One country-wide and the other affecting a large portion of Phnom Penh and maybe some nearby districts. Granted it is still better than a decade ago when most businesses had to rely on generators during the hot season.

iirc, both incidents were caused by unforeseeable faults.YellowFlu wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 12:04 pmWe now twice had a severe power outage the past few months. One country-wide and the other affecting a large portion of Phnom Penh and maybe some nearby districts.
It's not from increased demand, those kind of cuts usually only happen in April/May
The whole grid is being upgraded and expanded, and new hydro, solar and wind projects are in the pipeline.
Apart from that one big fault recently, I haven't had a power cut in over 6 months
How is it with electricity prices in Cambodia? Are they set to rise here, like they're doing in Europe? What is the main power source? Coal?
According to this random site (https://opendevelopmentcambodia.net/top ... roduction/) its 61% hydro, 28% coal, 10% diesel. That's actually fairly green. Coal is likely to go up a bit in price, but not much.
