I assumed that they’d be using Olympic stadium for some stuff too. Surely they can’t fit everything into that new place? You can’t really get any more inner city than Olympic stadium…guest9 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 1:34 pmClearly this was an off-the-cuff idea, not thought through. I'd give it 3 or 4 days for minds to think clearly and come back with a sensible proposal.
FYI, the new national stadium is outside the city so shouldn't affect inner-city traffic. There will be competitions in other venues - Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, Kampot and Kep.

Any updates on this? ANY school closures? Where and when?
Anyone know if many volunteers are still needed? Do you know of any foreigners (non-Cambodians) who have applied to volunteer and been accepted/assigned? (I ask because I might apply to do some myself. Yes, hours standing around in high temperatures is a definite downside, but otherwise there is fair potential for fun and camaraderie.)

The weird thing is I’ve never found the traffic to be intolerably bad. A few waits on occasion but nothing like, say, Manila. Maybe I’ve just been lucky.
Indeed, Bangkok and Manila are far worse. But both Manila and Bangkok have a higher population than almost the whole of Cambodia, nerdlinger wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 5:45 pmThe weird thing is I’ve never found the traffic to be intolerably bad. Cambodia is getting worse every day, but still better than those two. Most of the problems in jams here are caused by selfish people who park where they like and tuktuks using the motorcycle lane. One thing really annoys me, the frequent long waits for official cavalcades in peak hours.
Worst traffic in the region is Jakarta.
