What did you have for dinner?
Chorizo sausage (ex Koh Kong sausage in Phhnom Penh), olives, and feta
Sausage was outstanding

Making Sausage rolls today,
Two slices of bacon, One slice of Salami chopped real fine, lightly fry all this up with brown onion, celery, grain mustard and 3 cloves of Garlic - set aside to cool.
Once cool, mix in with 500 gr of Pork Mince, one egg, 3/4 cup of bread crumbs and mixed herbs ( add a bit of Olive oil to make sure it all combines ) add salt and pepper to your taste.
Once all ingredients are combined spoon out onto puff pastry, roll, cut and cook in oven for 30 min's.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

Quite pissed off with today's meal.
Wanted to make a Beef Stew with a Rich Beef Gravy and assorted veggies.
Rather than buy all the veggies for a one pot meal I purchased a can of Vegetable soup to add into the mix and added the other staple ingredients.
FFS - Sugar Overload !!!
The amount of sugar in this supposed can of " Vegetable Soup ??? " was excessive.
It destroyed the flavor of the stew.
I'm not a big eater of canned food, but is it normal for canned food to contain excessive sugar levels to make them more acceptable to consumers ?

If you peel of the label on the can it has some disclaimers, one of which is "Never use this to make a stew. It is strictly sold as soup. We will not be responsible for the resulting mess. "
Logos, I see you are on a diet again.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
LL,
Your comments make me laugh.
I was chatting to the missus on Viber and told her of my cooking failure.
She had a chuckle and reminded me of when she purchased a 2 kg bag of MSG in Melbourne and that when I found it I flushed it down the toilet.
There is too much Salt and Sugar in pre packaged and canned food.

Well the answer is that there is nothing intrinsically wrong with canned food. It's heated up enough to kill most bacteria then kept airtight for years. I'm just guessing but I imagine that canned spinach or chick peas don't need much extra. However soups and recipes made on industrial scales might need more additives to keep them stable.

Purchased a 1.8 kg Certified"" Free Range Chicken"" yesterday with the expectation it would taste better than the rather bland cage reared chickens available in my local supermarket.
What a Fuc-ken waste of money, the street chickens in Cambodia have more flavor than this pale chicken meat carcass.
End of rant.
