Almost couldnt get a seat outside this place for lunch today because one table was occupied by a Khmer guy dressed like Kim Jong Un, the driver for a well known American lawyer who was inside. Another table was occupied by a different Khmer guy dressed like Kim Jong Un, who got into the car with them when they left, I guess he was the lawyer's bodyguard. Another table was occupied by a current or former staff member sitting outside.
Another table had a half drunk glass of water on it that the staff had not bothered to clear away.

That still leaves at least three tables outside by my calculations. Do you mind if I sit down usually works in these situations too, and if you can't handle a negative response , well !
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

I once hired a motodop for the night in Sihanoukville back in 2004 or 2005.
He drops me at the first stop, Fisherman's Den, I walk upstairs and get a drink at the bar and start talking to Brian the owner.
Then I look and see that the motodop has come upstairs and decided to just hang out in the bar waiting for me.
That was awkward. Fortunately Brian sensed my discomfort and didn't hesitate at all in asking the guy "Is that your bike downstairs? Go sit on your bike."

Not buying that, never heard a sentence come out of Brian's mouth without an expletive in 14 odd years!gavinmac wrote:I once hired a motodop for the night in Sihanoukville back in 2004 or 2005.

It appears that Larry's has gone from a heavy smoking bar to a non-smoking bar. Or maybe they just have a no smoking sign on the door as decoration.

A heavy smoking bar ? I don't like smoke and notice it fast but don't remember having ever been annoyed by it inside the bar
People smoke in there, but the ceilings are high enough and the ventilation good enough for it not to be a problem.

Which is being enforced and respected on a much more frequent basis than before.Hanno wrote:Yes. And people are supposed to stop at red lights too.....ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:I thought all bars and restaurants now were meant to be non-smoking
These days Cambodia isn’t as lawless as many people like to project.
Daytime, definitelyWhich is being enforced and respected on a much more frequent basis than before.
Night time, it generally is at large intersections but I wouldn't risk my life on foot or on a bike to check it.
It is improving. Road dividers have also been very useful to regulate wild traffic. Especially enjoyable when large vehicules with non standard plates encounter them.
