Off Road Driving
I've seen more and more of these jacked up trucks around over the past few years, always wondered what they did with them. This video is from 2017 but it seems they have big crews getting around. Looks like fun, they seem to do their bit winching stuck vehicles out. I recommend muting the videos and putting on some other sounds instead.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Cool. Doing some charity deliveries to schools in the process.
Little bit overkill with snorkels, lift kits and winches on that trip! Could’ve gone down it in my 2WD Honda.

Check out their other videos, some do go through rough spots. It's interesting that even now they still seem to use relatively old cars, 98 Landcruisers with more money put into the running gear and suspension than the car would be worth. I like them a lot, they look bad-ass like Mad Max style.

That guy needs to work on his off road driving skills.
but then again......so do I.
Here is a shot of me getting a dry creek crossing VERY wrong whilst chasing buffalo in the NT. Luckily it was not too far off the main road and the first guy that came along had a steel tow cable. Could have been a loooooong wait otherwise. Heading off next tuesday for the annual 3 week buff, barra, goose and pig fest. Hopefully no more fuck ups like this one. Cant afford to have shit go wrong when you are remote.

Even in the UK you never go “green laning” alone.
The older Cruisers/Pajeros are simpler to fix and have less to go wrong plus if you bash a wing it won’t matter.

Yep, no (or hardly any) vulnerable electronic, engine emission control things, etc.

Given you’re an old Landcruiser head, what do you think about the LC 75 with the 1HZ?
It’s a vehicle I’ve always wanted (on paper) and would be perfect for some top end off roading but I wonder if the leafsprings and live axles would drive me nuts on the tar, day to day.

1Hz the best engine ever. I loved the 94 LC I had.
Yes it was like a truck on the tar but I loved that too
I bought the MN Triton because We ran them as work trucks in Cambodia and they never let Us down.
This one has been great to me . I don’t do any real hardcore off roading, more bush bashing as I hunt and it does everything I ask. It’s good in the sand too. Misuse can drive it. Only negative is The diesel consumption is high ish
Next car is a Lanccruiser Workmate 70 wagon

Thanks RC. Researching, those Tritons seem stronger than most other dual cabs in the segment of a similar age.ricecakes wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 5:20 am1Hz the best engine ever. I loved the 94 LC I had.

I had a company dual cab D40 Navara which I really liked (and they’re bloody cheap now) but unfortunately they just seem too unreliable, long term.
Seriously looking at either a:
-120 which would be most sensible
-105 with the 1HZ
- 75 which the heart wants, but not sure about day to day practicality.

I love the styling of the older Navara but man are they tiny inside.
Dream truck for me is a RAM2500 dual cab with cummins diesel. Killer on all fronts and rows 4.5 tonnes out of the box .

I’d be more keen to have a drive of that 79 Wagon you mentioned - that’d have the turbo diesel V8, right? Hope it’s work car not personal ? Prices are astronomical!

Personal car.
Toyota phasing out the TD V8 . They’ll be a collector soon like the 1HZ
