Plastic Waste is a pest in Cambodia. Loads of Plastic ends up along the road, in the River or in the Sea. Much of it is simply burned leaving toxic smoke in the already polluted air. One Organisation took the matter in it's hand by using a simple method to clean up and prevent people fromPlastic use.
Here you can calculate your own Plastic Footprint

Unfortunately the Org is not yet in Cambodia due to a number of reasons but it would be a good idea for the Government to take up the lead.

Discarded masks Pandemic's hidden dangers
A pileup of discarded masks, shields and test kits is raising the risk of Covid contamination as officials plead with citizens to separate and secure their trash
Many Khmer like to throw their plastic waste on the road/ditch/river..... no matter of how polluted the area already is. Now you can see a new TREND picking up fast. The discarded Mask. Test Kits have not shown up just yet but it's only a matter of time before the public embraces this , too.
About five months ago, discarded face masks and shields began to pile up.
"It is the largest amount I have ever collected. It is higher than last year. Our team picks up 5-6 tonnes a day in Bangkok," he said, while this contaminated trash ends up together with everything else in Cambodia, AT BEST !
From experience, discarded masks and shields have doubled and nearly equalled household junk since the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic began. Moreover, since last month, used antigen test kits have appeared in Bangkok as well. Some community residents mix them up with domestic trash.
"Please sort them out to reduce the risk of infection. A refuse worker working with another truck caught the coronavirus on duty. We double up on face masks and wear gloves for extra protection at our own expense," he said.
Contaminated waste must be burnt at the proper temperature to reduce environmental impact. While infectious waste incinerators must operate at 760C, community and factory incinerators must work at 850C.

Serious question: if I wash my mask, dry it and wear it again will it still retain the same efficacy?
@twinkletoes. I did wash my masks , dried them in the sun and wore them again. Not sure they're still safe but i feel the same when using a new one but my conscious is much better with the recycled one. I believe the "fashion masks with colorfull prints etc." are a real threat though. People don't seem to give them up so easy. It's a fashion statement .
Seen those before.Beaker wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 2:14 pmThe is a company here in Ta Khmao that puts ground up plastic waste into Lego like construction compressed earth bricks. So no pollution and fuel used to fire these bricks and gets rid of plastic waste.

Looked through their FB but it doesn’t say exactly what’s in the bricks, apart from plastic. Do they use cement or is just earth, and what earth do they use?
pew, pew, pew, pew!
The styrofoam boxes they use for pork and rice are a killer, too, single-use, take ages to break down, toxic
