Smoking Ban at Thai Airports
Smoking Ban at Thai Airports
Just a heads up for those who aren't aware, the Thai Government has banned smoking at all Thai airports with effect 3rd Feb 2019. This includes all smoking rooms, the lounges where you could pay to use which had their own smoking lounges, and outside the airport.
Whilst I think it's a good initiative, it really sucks when you've got a long layover after a long ass flight. You can always go through the hassle of going through immigration and heading outside away from the terminal for a cheeky puff, but then you've got the even bigger hassle of fighting the hordes of Chinese re-entering through Security & Immigration.
Might be time to finally put some real effort into giving up the ciggies.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Didn’t have you down as a smoker PSD_Kiwi.
Gave up over four years ago. Miss it. Still dream about it. Can’t even justify the cost to give up.
Cambodia - you can’t afford not to smoke!

I'm in Nashville for a couple days. They have a tiny smokers lounge with a $5 entry fee. Yep, I paid it.

Went in to the smokers hall at Sydney airport once and everyone in there looked grey and ill; I left immediately. Gave up smoking tobacco 10 years ago, best thing I ever did.

I pictured him as more of a dip man - the light of the cigarette will give off your position at night...YaTingPom wrote:Didn’t have you down as a smoker PSD_Kiwi.

Airport smoking rooms are depressing places. I gave up about 20 years ago. Don't miss cigarettes. Do enjoy the occasional cigar.

I always thought that Japan does the best job with ventilation in smoking areas and with crappers. Probably give the silver medal to Singapore's airport,

I went into the smoker's lounge behind the "Irish Pub" in Abu Dhabi airport and almost choked to death, I was still coughing like a bastard when I was going down the escalator downstairs. I was back not long after, had to get one more in before the flight. Then I noticed there were pleasant smoking rooms with working aircon right by the gates.kinard wrote:Went in to the smokers hall at Sydney airport once and everyone in there looked grey and ill; I left immediately. They should do something really useful like putting a cap on beer prices in airports. 5 bucks for a mug of beer in Delhi airport.

The best smoking area at Changi is in T2, level 3, a semi-outside observation deck, complete with misters and real sunflowers (fake ones too), and right next to a bar.Sonic1 wrote:I always thought that Japan does the best job with ventilation in smoking areas and with crappers. There are 20 smoking areas at Changi.

Keith Richards is a good example of what happens to a face after heavy tobacco usage, (as opposed to eating a lot of C-Vitamin fx).
But hey he's cool enough, and still alive!
I quit 20 years ago, due to working a place where smoking was prohibited, it just came naturally going from 20-40.
to 10 a day.. then 5 a day, then 3, 2, 1.., 0
Did it over a few months, cutting down a little bit every week.
The last one to go was the post-dinner one, a family tradition of mine.
