It boggles the mind how some people can simultaneously hold these two conflicting beliefs: 1) that Russia's military has revealed itself to be pathetic; 2) that if we don't escalate in Ukraine, then Russia will overrun all of Europe with its mighty armies. And the USA too apparently - some agitators reused the War of Terror selling point: We fight Russia in Ukraine so we don't have to fight them in USA.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 8:27 pmAnd yet nearly a year after the invasion, the Russians are still making no progress and the myth of their military supremacy has been shattered, likely forever.
Again, it boggles the mind how sychophants of the US military industrial complex have come to believe being against war is being right wing. George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld would have blushed at the amount of propaganda & warmongering going around these days. 1970s hippie peacenicks railing against US carpet bombing of Cambodia would have been decried as right wing nutjobs today.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 8:27 pmBad news for you pro-Russian far-right nutjobs, but true nonetheless.
No. I missed that one. Do you have a link?Guest wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 8:27 pmDoes anyone else recall Putin saying this was going to be a 4-5 day operation?

Refers to " some people" and "sycophants" as the basis of his argument but demands links to prove the veracity of others.Rune wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 8:42 amIt boggles the mind how some people can simultaneously hold these two conflicting beliefs: 1) that Russia's military has revealed itself to be pathetic; 2) that if we don't escalate in Ukraine, then Russia will overrun all of Europe with its mighty armies. I suspect until Tucker Carlson reveals to you who exactly you refer to neither of us will know.
I know of no right wing nut jobs that are antiwar. Infact the last right wing nut job that held the presidency wanted to bomb Mexico (anonymously of course, taking responsibility for your actions is not a right wing value). Tucker Carlson called for Canada to be liberated by American troops recently and this kind of rhetoric to his sheep like, easily mind boggled audience can hardly be considered promoting peaceful, respectful international relations.

I see it as the Western allies manipulating Russia and Ukraine into anoyher proxy war. Why else would a tiny country take on the might of Russia, unless it was promised from the beginning it had 'full' backing from the EU/ US. The 0.91% only sanction war when they think they can gain something whether it's true or not (nutters/sane). How many Ukrainians wanted to go to war? How many Russians? The 0.01%/US gov don't care about Ukrainians. They care about their own interests. The same for the Russian and Ukrainian governments who don't represent their people, anymore than the UK government is respecting the opinion of its own people.

Right, Russia didn’t invade Ukraine because Putin wants to make Russia great again and to live out his Tzarist phantasies; it is all a plot by the West, led by the great Satan, the USA. About the only statement you made that sounds right is about Ukrainians not wanting to go to war.Dogsdick wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 6:54 pm

A tiny country didn’t take on the might of Russia.
Russia invaded a sovereign independent country and Ukraine is defending itself and trying to repel the illegal invasion.
I suspect NO Ukrainians wanted to go to war this time last year, but once they were attacked virtually every citizen is united in fighting to get rid of them.
What the fuck is wrong with you idiots

Kishke, it's wonderful to see you so vociferously condemn "right wing nut jobs," as it's something we can agree on.Anthony's Wiener wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:23 am

Having said that, what are your thoughts on Israel recently hosting representatives of the Azov Battalion, especially the red-carpet treatment of the “hero” of the Azov Battalion, Illia Samoilenko?
A Shanda, no?

Your assessment of Russia’s military power doesn’t seem to even slightly tally with the events of the past year.Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 8:14 pmYes, I agree. Russia has the most tanks in the world. In fact, North Korea has almost as many as the US. The number of tanks being sent to Ukraine by NATO and allies will have little impact and likely end up as scrap metal.
It's also worth noting that the M1 Abrams that the US are sending, use depleted uranium rounds

First, let me state this very simply. I fully support diplomatic efforts to end this conflict by re-drawing the maps, as the four Russian occupied areas voted to join Russia, otherwise the people have no agency. Enough people have lost their lives, been displaced and the country is a failed state.nerdlinger wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 12:01 amYour assessment of Russia’s military power doesn’t seem to even slightly tally with the events of the past year.Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 8:14 pmYes, I agree. Second, Russia have hypersonic missiles and an air force. The End.

A heaping pile of schmegegge. The "hero" you speak of fought and survived the battle of Mariupol, spent 4 months in solitary confinement as a prisoner of the Russians and was part of a prisoner exchange. The Russians killed approx. 25,000 residents of Mariupol and a further 100,000 were left homeless by Russian bombardment.
The group visit was sponsored by the Friends of Israel Ukraine and the Israeli Embassy in Ukraine. Given that the Israeli Embassy was involved the visit obviously fit with Israel's objective.
You may remember that just prior to the visit the Russian Foriegn Minister made claim that Hitler had Jewish blood and that Israeli mercenaries fought for the Azov Battalion causing quite a diplomatic tsoris.
I note of course the one armed war hero visited the occupied Palestinian territory.
I believe the Israelis were following the latin proverb " Amicus meus, imicus inimici mei" or in simple English " my friend, the enemy of my enemy."
My personal opinion of the Azov Battalion is that they are the dreck of Ukrainian society. They however fight valiantly to protect their homeland against a barbaric invader. A classic case of dybbuk.
Your opinion is echoed by many sources including an op-ed in the
" The People's World" formerly known as " The Daily Worker" the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of America which also used the term "shanda" to describe the event.
If a Republican were to require emergency surgery and blood transfusion to live and then found out the Dr preforming the surgery was a transexual and that the blood was donated by a person of color, the Republican would face the same conundrum.
What concessions does one's moral being make to ensure one's physical being?

The fact you’d say this with a straight face against overwhelming evidence that the referendums were not even close to legitimately conducted, shows that you are not debating in good faith, and are just here to blindly shill Putin’s taking points. On the blocked list you go. Bye byeHot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 1:28 amas the four Russian occupied areas voted to join Russia, otherwise the people have no agency.

Just extraordinary. Hot Pink has played a blinder here.
Come come nerdlinger. Are you really doubting that 98% of the good citizens of the self proclaimed republic of Donetsk voted to be part of Russia?
Where’s your faith man?
I’m reminded of the election in Chechnya during all the trouble there: Putin got 107% of the entire local electorate.
