In fairness Mr Monkey, i didn't say no money in the account. Just life should focus more on quality, than the number in an account.
I know folk who are obsessed with how much money they have but still lead 'Escapist' based lives and will never be happy until they see their focus is wrong.
Nothing wrong with having money, it certainly makes things easier but it is not the be all and end all of our lives, or it shouldn't be.

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

It's sad that Europe's youth will probably have to inherit their parent's home or buy in different neighborhoods from their youth. The same in many cities in the US and I hear in Vancouver, Melbourne and Sydney.
Quite unlikely, but a world collapse could happen (war, disease, natural disaster), and if they endured, they could possibly pick some stuff up cheap. But not likely.
Not sure yet if this phenomenon is hype during a good economy or reality. Usually every 15 years or so, something takes a BIG dive. It has always been so.
America's last shake up was 2007-8? That means, following the averages from the past, we're just coming off the peak of a flourishing season, and headed to a season of "correction" in the US in the next 5-6 years, a nice letdown if you start preparing now. Actually, we're still in the boom season, nothing to worry about, but as you can see we're all slowly running out of steam. Growing but less fast, earning but at a slower rate.
Again, a trend is not fact/a prophecy, so give or take 1-3 years with unknown external factors. Also, America's economy is very loan/bank dependent, so Asia will react differently (better) with a more cash-based society.
Hmm, I might have to start saving up now to buy big if/when the world economy collapses again in the next 5-6 years.
Then again, some economies/industries are immune to the vagaries of the economic cycle, and others run counter to it, so YMMV.
If you're waiting for land prices to go down, might be a while ...

I think it was Coco Chanel who said that, while the best things in life are free, the next best things are bloody expensive. And if I am going to be miserable, I want to be miserable in comfort.

I'm neither 'richer' nor 'poorer' than my parents; I am my parents.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Springrain, when you have begun to think you are now your parents, you are either contented or have one foot in the grave.
Lets hope there is a smile on your face

Are we not products of our parents' love for each other? (Well, most of the time.)

Surely not if the parents are lizards though?
Anyway, i was told at an early age that i was the result of an accident after several beers. No orchestra or brass band playing. Pretty normal i reckon.

Dude, I've often thought that I was an accident. It is a view shared by many. ('smile' as the button is not working!)
But folk can still express Love for each other after a few beers can they not? ('Thumbs up' as I'm having a tech-challenged day.)

While not a speculator I never shied away from buying beautiful pieces of property when I saw one, had the cash and was ahead of the crowd. Cambodia being what it is that made me way richer than my mother and about par with my father. Always been satisfied with what I had. Could do with more but that would mean working too hard for my taste, could do with less but that would mean drastic cuts in what I enjoy most in life, therefore I am just concentrating on maintaining this delicate balance that I have.
