My giddiness at saving £3 ish a week following the chancellors autumn announcement was premature. I got a letter this week saying the new rate is £3.45 a week. So I investigated more, turns out the abolishment of class2 Nat ins doesn’t apply to those living and working abroad.
But paying £3.45 a week for another 10 years to give me £200 or so a week when I hit 67 is fine by me. I don’t have Spigzy ’s stock market skills to get a guaranteed 60 fold increase (if I’m still alive)

It rises to over £220 a week in April and given Labour are likely to keep the triple lock in their manifesto, it’s not impossible to predict it could rise to £280 or even £300 in a decade.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 8:53 pmMy giddiness at saving £3 ish a week following the chancellors autumn announcement was premature. Any Brit in Cambodia not paying these voluntary contributions is a bloody idiot.
Got a letter here, or are you using a UK address?ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 8:53 pmMy giddiness at saving £3 ish a week following the chancellors autumn announcement was premature. I thought I might use a UK address to take advantage of the increaes and defraud the State a little, as is the custom.

I used to get post here, but it took so long to arrive and I checked the po box so infrequently it was very out of date before I got to read the letter.RobW wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 11:00 amGot a letter here, or are you using a UK address?ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 8:53 pmMy giddiness at saving £3 ish a week following the chancellors autumn announcement was premature. So now I use a UK postal address for HMRC and I get a scan of the letter sent to me.
But the address is only a postal address - they don't use that to determine residency status
