60+ and body sore day after working out
I am over 60 now and worked out all my life. The last ten months or so I notice that in the mornings my entire body is sore. It takes an hour or two for this to go away. It has to be related to working out the day before. Before this virus came I went to the gym regularly and don't recall having this pain. Now I do body weight exercise and jogging outside.
Just wonder if any other guys over 60 experience this.

Actually, that's very easy.MJones wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 4:32 amI am over 60 now and worked out all my life. The last ten months or so I notice that in the mornings my entire body is sore. When you do "exercise", the body cells get damaged. This damage has to be repaired. The older you are, the less damage repair capabilities the body does have.
Once you go over that threshold, your body gets behind in repairing, implying that -especially the energy handling- gets subpar, with the consequence that subsequent body load gives more damage to the body than before in a more fresh state. This accumulates.
And probably your body feels also pretty stiff, the first couple of minutes after getting up in the morning.
What you have to do is, get the body load below what the body can repair. Initially, significantly lower, to let the body catch-up on all backlog repairs.
A good thing for recovery is, when you wake up in the morning, pee, drink some water and sleep for another 2-3 hours. Do this 1-2, maybe 3 times a week. It'll work on restoring your body repair mechanism.
Once the catch-up is accomplished, SLOWLY increase the load again (and lower, when you notice the pain and stiffness again, since that signals overload).
Unfortunately: Don't drink Alcohol. As long as Alcohol is in the blood, the body repair is largely halted.
Good luck.

Regular gym monkey also - usually, under 60, but I think the other issue you might be facing is a change of exercise style. I noticed this when switching from my usual compound lifts in the gym to basic bodyweight exercises (sometimes with bands to add tension), I was hitting muscles that wouldn't usually get hit so much, etc. - usual day after soreness, etc. In a way it has made me realise that when gyms reopen, there are some band/bodyweight exercises I will keep doing, so all good.
If your body doesn't seem to adapt the same as your old gym routine adaption after a few weeks, I'd probably go and get checked out (aside I wouldn't go within 1km of a hospital right now).
Or you might just be getting old!

Are you going on the piss after the weights?
Anyway, i'm not too sure about weight training for over 60's. I find it funny enough looking at young dudes looking like a condom stuffed full of walnuts, let alone old wrinklies
Just accept the man boobs and move on.

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
Where exactly are you sore? Are you drinking enough water and getting proper nutrition?
Something as simple as 4 more glasses of water and a multivitamin tablet can make a big difference in recovery.

Can anyone help me?
My bumhole gets burny the day after I eat a load of chillies.
I have no idea what might be causing it.

TTP? I wouldn't wish that on a broke dick dog.
It's not the Maybelline, I know that much!

That’s not a fair comparison, when was the last time you touched a barbell? Your cardio is better with all the hashing.
The only time Migs’ goes to a gym is to do his hair and adjust his Paul Smith suit in the plethora of mirrors.
