That's a cracking documentary!
It seems we still haven't learnt, even after Upton Sinclair's book exposing the dreadful conditions at meat-processing plants:

I can do without meat no problem.
Vegans have more energy dudes.
Supermarkets are stocking more and more vegan food as the popularity grows.
Bit difficult sticking to a vegan diet with work though sometimes.

I can do without processed meat for sure, but hard to top a decent steak.
Asia is definitely the place to be a veggie/vegan though, I'll happily chew through many local dishes.
That steak though.

Are you tiny? I just don’t see myself eating 2,000+ kcal of plants every day. It’s not very practical.

This is my issue also.
I'm happy to reduce meat intake but the alternatives are too boring/expensive/unappetising to be doing it too regularly or to indeed go exclusively vegan.

I think it's a myth created by the meat and dairy industries that you need meat for muscle mass. If you tell people something for long enough...
Gorillas, hippos, and elephants are vegan and the most powerful of mammals.
Cross don't fuck with hippos.
Lions don't fuck with elephants.
Then there's German vegan strongman Patrik Baboumian.
The mostly meat eating Eskimos don't live that long.
The mostly veg eating Okinawa people have the longest life spans.
100 grams of peanuts for 50% of RDA of protein. Who doesn't like nuts?
Most store soy milk is fortified with calcium.
Vegan sausages are actually very good.

But I’m not a gorilla or a hippo. Bulls eat grass but I don’t think that would work very well for me.spitthedog wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 8:58 pmGorillas, hippos, and elephants are vegan and the most powerful of mammals.
In 2,000-3,000 kcal I’m normally eating at least (being generous to you here) 170 grams of protein every day. 100 grams of peanuts is 567 kcal of which 26 grams is protein. Great, now I have 144 grams of protein left.
Am I supposed to eat 500 grams of peanuts (130g protein, 2,835! kcal) and drink 1 liter of soy milk (33,8g protein, 47 kcal) every day? Do you have any idea what that’s going to do to my stomach?

Yes, and these animals spend the vast majority of their waking lives grazing on crappy leaves that have barely any sustenance. They literally wake up, chew on surrounding vegetation all day, and then snooze and repeat the process endlessly till they die. People can't live like that.spitthedog wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 8:58 pm

RDA of protein for a man is just 55.5 grams.
The rule of vegan is that if you eat enough calories, then your are getting enough protein.

You said earlier that you don’t believe that you need meat to build muscle. So now you’re saying that you don’t need protein at all? What muscle are you building with 55 grams of protein other than a very hungry stomach?spitthedog wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 11:54 pmDude,

It’s not really a matter of opinion though, is it? If you don’t eat enough protein your body starts to break down your muscles. If you don’t care about that then that’s fine but for me personally if I can’t eat enough protein through veganism then veganism is not for me.
I eat a lot of nuts too but it’s a snack not a diet.
