Can anyone advise ;
a) To bring a Viet plated bike into Cambodia does the rego card need to be in your name ? I know quite a few travellers ride bikes over the border and I find it hard to believe they have gone to the considerable effort to change the ownership into their name
b) how long can you stay in Cambodia with a Viet plated bike ?
c) can you change a viet plated bike to cambodian plates ? I am assuming to attempt this then yes...very least....it would need to be in your name
thanks
Bringing moto into Cambodia from Vietnam
Just ride accross as long as you have the card it will be ok,no known time limit in Cambodia for Viet bike,but if you want to do Cambo reg you will have to pay import duty which is exorbitant.
c) Changing to Cambodian plate. I just had a Wave 125 brought in last week, import duty was $400 about. I had a fixer do things for me though in terms of getting the plate, tax, etc. done as a return favor and it didn't have an original Viet plate since it was new. No hassle at the border but documents were all squared away to begin with.
It's kind of a grey zone to be honest, I've heard people getting hassle for trying to convert bikes over from Viet plates to Cambodian ones so, I'm honestly not sure.

Actually Gav,
I was able to buy a near new moto of a type unavailable in Cambodia at a silly price and I am trying to figure out the logistics of getting it back to Cambodia to leave it there for my regular trips home.
Now do carry on being a fucking idiot. It is what you do best.

Why do you stay in Cambodia, instead of the neighbors; Thailand or Vietnam?
