I remember many years ago riding along then walking 2-3km further down an old road below Bokor SE of the Casino. Has anyone taken a bike all the way down that way? Looks like the Chinese are up to some random destruction there, but should still be great jungle. I heard, then saw, saw a pair of Great Hornbills there.
If it is passible, it might make a nice loop, up that track, picnic lunch, then down the new highway.
Also, is it still possible to stay overnight in the Ranger Station just up from the lake?
Best Motorbike rides in Cambodia
Oh, I get it, my questions are far too specific. Anyone been on an enjoyable ride in the last 5 years or so?
I rode all over Cambodia on my DRZ400 in the years I lived in Camnbodia.
My favourite ride however was up to Kampong cham with an overnighter there . We would ride over the Japanese bridge and then cross the Chinese Bridge north of Areyk Sat and then hug the Mekong all the way up on single trails galore although it got harder as more fences went up. Once on KC, cross the famous bamboo bridge and ride forever into farmlands . Pure bliss.

Nice bike.
Riding a long way up the East side of the Mekong sounds great!
I can't recall a long bamboo bridge in KC. Any pictures?

That bike was a rental from my good mates Brady and Jeff at AM
I eventually STOLE this DRZ400 from a Belgian who had left the country and wanted it gone. Bought it for next to nothing as he had lost the card. Spent alot of money modding it including a super obnoxious custom expat 1.o pipe by Dara. BLAP POP BLAP POP . It was a beautiful bike and served me well for years as daily driver and weekend rider. i eventually sold it when i moved to Hanoi ( for double my outlay ) to a Vietnamese guy who intended to strip it down and take it illegally back into Vietnam !
If the bridge is gone how the hell do you get over there now ? ferry i guess ? Shame as that bridge was an insane engineering marvel......

We may have met at AM about 2007.There has been a proper modern bridge for years now.The bamboo bridge was a money maker for the people who run the "beach " part of the island.I haven't been there for years.
The best motorcycle ride in Cambodia is the one you get home alive from
Never a truer word spoken. That first cold beer back in Phnom Penh as you each other on a safe return was always the best.wibblewibble wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 6:08 amThe best motorcycle ride in Cambodia is the one you get home alive from
On one of our longer multi day rides with AM up towards Prey Vihear we rode back together as far as a few kms out from the Japanese Bridge and then traffic seperated us. I was the first back into 136st and ordered the round of beers thinking the boys would be right behind me. 30 mins later and I am still waiting and then Brady turns up and says " A drunk khmer just did a u turn in front of Andy and he t boned the guy and has taken his foot off..." Cost our mate $1000 in medical fees for this silly cunt and ruined a good round of Anchor. Unreal....all those tiring risky kms and this happens a few km from home.....

Hey, it's always great to hear about epic motorbike rides in Cambodia! The camaraderie and that first cold beer back in Phnom Penh must have been a fantastic feeling.
