Arriving back into Cambodia.
Hi, I have a few questions for those who have returned recently, yes I know about the FB page but the info on there is six months or more out-of-date and would like some real info from those that have done it themselves.
1. There seems to be some confusion on the negative result. Is it 72 hours before departure or arrival? I am planning on later but my flight will involve three stops taking nearly 45 hours! Cutting it fine ain't the word.
2. I have an Acleda debit card. Will there be any problems with paying the 2000 deposit with that?
3. Hw much is the insurance, 14 days, one month, etc?
Any other info or advice from only those who have done recently would be appreciated.
Cheers
Adam

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
All those questions have been answered many times on the FB group (and this website by pSD-Kiwi) and they’d have relevance if they’re six months old or six hours.

pew, pew, pew, pew!
There are very few recreational travellers if any.
The pandemic protocols have been fine tuned now after 18 months and governments are learning their 2020 mistakes.
Basically, suck it and see.

I don't know much about it.
Apparently there are reps from the various banks at the airport but it might be better having cash, I'll wait for someone else who knows more to chime in.I have an Acleda debit card. Will there be any problems with paying the 2000 deposit with that?
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

That is the problem, my account is dollars and if I withdraw here every day for the next seven days to get 2000 euros I will incur a transaction charge each time at this end of 3 euros ( 21 euros in all , not so much ) and also the exchange rate mark up of 2% , just went to the ATM here and they were offering 13.5 % mark up, thieving euronet atm. Anyway exchange dollar to Euros and then back again into dollars is just plain daft but if it has to be done it has to be done. Would be nice to get a definite answer to my three questions from someone who actually knows, though.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 7:43 pmI don't know much about it.Apparently there are reps from the various banks at the airport but it might be better having cash, I'll wait for someone else who knows more to chime in.I have an Acleda debit card. There’s ATMs on the airport in Cambodia where you can withdraw the money.
The question is not if you can withdraw it in Cambodia but if your airline will let you board without seeing the cash.
I would recommend that you withdraw it beforehand.

So a bank statement showing the cash plus bank certificates showing Acleda long term deposits should be enough then! Are you sure that the ATMs at the airport allow you to withdraw that amou t of cash?
Either way first decent answer, cheers

So another question arises to those that have returned recently.
Are the airlines asking for proof of finances/ability to pay the 2000 deposit?
My FB friends are also informing me that the 14 day quarantine is often extended to 18 days to drain out that bit of money left over. Has anyone else heard this?

All the info on the FB page is current. I also have recent experience of returning and going through quarantine, for the 3rd time, just released from quarantine on the 14th May.
1. No more than 72hrs prior to first international embarkation point.
2. Yes you can pay with your Acleda debit card, but cash is king...some airlines insist on cash, I even had to count the cash out for Asiana at the transfer counter in ICN this time, too many people have been denied entry on arrival because they were unable to pay by card for numerous reasons and the airlines are fined and are responsible for repatriation.
Also note, if you make your deposit with Acleda, they do not provide you with a statement showing the breakdown of expenses when going for your refund. CAB and Canadia both do.
3. Forte COVID-19 insurance policy is mandatory, all the information and prices is all clearly stated on their website, it is $90 for the 20 day policy, $120 for the 1 mth policy, and $250 for the 3 mth policy.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
The quarantine period is actually calculated as 14 nights, even though the directive states 14 days...day of arrival is day zero. You have your 2nd PCR test on day 13, as soon as the results are returned negative and the MoH updates the quarantine database then you are released. Some people have experienced waiting up to 96hrs from testing until release, this is due to the pressure on the labs due to the current outbreak. I had to wait appx 48hrs after my 2nd test until the hotel received authorisation to release us.

Perfect mate, just perfect.
Sorry if you have had to repeat stuff time n time again but I am useless at the search functions on this site and the FB page is just too much of everything.
Look me up in a few weeks and I will buy you a beer or three .

No worries, feel free to ask any more questions you may have. The main thing is ensuring that your pre-flight PCR test documentation meets the requirements, the airlines and officials on arrival are anal about this.
Appreciate the offer of beer...unfortunately I'll most likely be gone again by then. At least 2 more doses of Cambodian quarantine to go through this year
