Seen a few of those white electric rickshaw things (what are they?) around PP. Anyone ridden in one?
They seem to have more room and better vision, for passengers, than those crap PassApp rickshaws.
Look a bit light empty so maybe an issue with bumps and potholes.
Building battery swap stations now and it says they’re “Made in Cambodia” but probably assembled here.
Anyway. $3999 and there’s a waiting list if you fancy a new vehicle.

This is interesting.
And an unusual model of ‘charging’ - a bit like the gas tank model here. Just have a new one and I’ll take the old one…
It doesn’t seem to have a home charging option though. I’d nearly be interested in one of these for the nephew to do the school run… but if I can’t charge it at home then that’s a big negative for me.

So just like a car.
Ok in a big city not so good anywhere else.
For now anyways.
I still think the whole electric cars is a big mistake. Just that everyone seems to get excited about them. “Green” they are not and it’s as much as a misnomer as the Ocean Garbage Patch, only 3% is and near the surface and a very tiny % of that is visible and not chunks of plastic like the name would imply.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
I'm getting tired of all this supposedly "green" shit. Have a look at the production process and required rare earth metals + the way the are dug up in Africa.... It really isn't much better in the long run. We simply fuck up the planet in a different way. Different idea (not necessarily Cambodia focused): create affordable and reliable public transportation, once implemented discourage multiple vehicles per household by high taxes, road tax during peak hours, etc.
The grid over here is already struggling to supply electricity to all new boreys and apartment buildings coming online. Why burden it with EV? Solar and wind are no option yet either as can be seen in the West. Those are only viable if there is a means to store the energy efficiently. Some homeowners cannot even earn back their investment as selling the power back onto the grid is blocked due to overcapacity/net instability. It takes only a tiny hiccup to bring down the grid in either the USA or Western Europe.
Besides these issues you have a problem when such a car catches fire. I doubt the firebrigades in Cambodia have the means or knowledge to deal with these issues safely. Same goes for the fancy scooters people buzz around on. I would not store them near any entry/exit of your house.
