So tinterweb seems to suggest that neither visa on arrival (apart from for Cambodians) nor e-visa are available crossing from Cambodia but some people say differently. In addition, will be taking Cambodian plated car, registered in my name etc.
Anybody know?
Thanks.
Driving to Laos
I don't know about the border crossing situation is but now Laos is a major mess. Gas is $3.00 per liter IF you can get it. I would highlyadvise against trying to drive into Laos now.
Went to the embassy and they weren't sure about the rules at the border either, although they freaked when I said I was from the U.K as they heard Ukraine. You'd think they would know the situation, it being the only crossing with Cambodia, but there we are. They were very positive about applying for a visa in advance and said cars are no problem so will do that today.
As for fuel, I have great faith in human greed so imagine the potential price arbitrage will mean a massive smuggling operation in the area.
Thanks Johnny.

Pre covid, used to drive into Laos once/year from thailand with thai registered car and on to Cambodia<
never any problem< visa on arrival, ( valid for 30 days)Temp import doc issued at border, ( valid for 15 days and can be extended) and you need buy insurance
saw many Cambodian tagged cars, especially between Vientiane and 4,000 islands
Land borders opened in May
Laos is one country that a car is great as many areas transport is hard to come by.
make sure u visit the Plain of Jars

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Has anyone driven up Stung Treng way recently and knows what the road(s) are like?
Went up to Banlung, Ratanakiri 10-ish days ago.
The roads are in excellent condition.

someone just posted on FB
"We traveled from Cambodia to Laos. Cambodia side took 40 minutes, Laos 1 hour. We paid USD 3 for the vehicle exit document in Cambodia (they asked 20), USD 10 for the vehicle entry document (with receipts), USD 40 per person for the Laos visas and USD 3 (mainly leftover KMR) for the entry stamps (they asked 4)."
in a camper van, not Cambodian plated
