I want to claim refugee status in Cambodia.
There are massive differences between Florida, Phnom Penh and Pyongyang; essentially they’re three completely different worlds. It seems strange to me to move to one place based only on the economic system in place.
Does capitalism contra socialism really affect day to day living that much? What is so bad about capitalism that it makes you feel like needing to leave friends and family to move to North Korea of all places?
I suppose that I’ve already heard the objections against capitalism. People saying that it enslaves them and deprives you of liberty and all that. But when I think about liberty and freedom DPRK doesn’t exactly spring to mind. They are starving and they have active concentration camps, rampant torture and forced labor.
There’s a middle ground here, it’s not as if Florida and North Korea are the only inhabitable places on earth and if you are unhappy with being on one side then you must move to the other. I really don’t understand your reasoning, but please explain it. I’m genuinely curious.
Have you traveled much before considering this drastic change? America by itself is an enormous country with varying landscape and attitudes. Have you shopped around to find out if maybe it is Florida that sucks and not capitalism or the country as a whole?

Cuba is the best out of the 3 options you have put forward.
Cuba is just a stone's throw away from Florida, has great rum and there are frequent unscheduled boats ferrying passengers to America if you were to get homesick or have an important birthday party to attend. The weather is similar to Florida's.
North Korea has some drawbacks. The first for me anyway would be the winters. Secondly, they use a completely different language with it's unique characters. There is not even the possibility to read a word phonetically. South Koreans slang for Caucasians is
" koh jangy" which means roughly
" nose problem" while slang for Blacks is " good dungy" which means roughly "black ass hole." While Cubans come in every color, Koreans are homogeneous.
Cambodia is no longer communist as has been pointed out to you.

I cannot live in America because this country is controlled by enemies of the people. They are enemies of the working class. I cannot live in Europe as some people would because they are a bunch of bourgeois imperialist and white supremacist states. I could go to South America but I have no right to live in those countries and they are controlled by the bourgeoisie as well. In the case of Colombia the exploitation is even worse than America since private families own so much of the land. Basically I don't think any society will truly be organized in a fair way if private property exists within that society. Once capitalism fails the wealthy land owners of a country will use violence to suppress the people.Alexandra wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:24 amThere are massive differences between Florida, Phnom Penh and Pyongyang; essentially they’re three completely different worlds. P.S. I have been to Vietnam and it was amazing but they do not take refugees over there and I would need a degree to work there. It was a free society which was scary at first but not being able to live somewhere with human rights is so frustrating. I honestly wonder if I will even be scared or care when the American government comes to my house to kill me.
P.S. living in America is like living in jail because you can't do anything. Everyone is also severely brainwashed in Stockholm syndrome to the brutal regime. I keep sending requests to the United Nations to do a military intervention on our country but they ignore me.
Just move to Cambodia.
People more insane and less qualified than you have moved to Cambodia and found work, usually teaching English.
Were you assigned the female gender at birth? That's an advantage.

Dear Op, the US Government spies on K440 forum have noted your intent & your file passed to the relevant authority for further action. Have a nice day.

A genuine refugee is someone who leaves their home for fear of their life, generally as a result of a war/invasion or being the victim of some form of persecution.
Not liking the society you live in does not fit the bill.
As for a socialist country, many have tried, none have succeeded.
If North Korea is so great, how come they do not let their people leave at will?

Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
I agree that the situation in North America and Europe is intolerable but nobody can help you. The UN was set up to give a human face to the white supremacist global order. They are not going to help minorities in white supremacist countries.
Socialist countries like Vietnam, China, and the DPR Korea have to take care of their own and they are not prosperous enough to take care of refugees.

Oh damn this is actually great news. In my home country they consider me a nutcase but in Cambodia I might actually be considered relatively normal compared to most foreigners. I guess I am going to get a TEFL and just go.
Unfortunately I am not a trans male, but on the bright side I don't have to sit on public toilets.

I don’t know why you’d think that. You come across as a free thinking breath of fresh air.CharmingOwl wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 8:06 pmIn my home country they consider me a nutcase but in Cambodia I might actually be considered relatively normal compared to most foreigners. You mix up communism and socialism.
Several European countries have major socialist-democratic parties, from time to time they are in power, it tends to go back and forth between the right and the left side.
Of these part-time socialism governed countries, several are close to the top of most life quality lists.
Not implying that all is great, but few things suck epically in these partially socialistic European countries, so how you class that as not succeeding, I am somewhat curios about.
Fun fact, Sweden have more millionaires per capita than the US, despite around half of the last century being governed by socialists, and that is not a recent trend during a conservative majority.
In 2020 8.8% of the US population were millionaires and in Sweden 7.3%. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... llionairesGuru Meditation wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 10:08 pmFun fact, Sweden have more millionaires per capita than the US, despite around half of the last century being governed by socialists, and that is not a recent trend during a conservative majority.
Sweden is ruled by the Social Democratic Party. It doesn’t have a conservative majority.

The millionaire frequency has apparently changed, I read about it several years ago and was rather surprised at the time. Apparently, I was quoting outdated stats, should have double-checked that...Yggdrasil wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 10:23 pmIn 2020 8.8% of the US population were millionaires and in Sweden 7.3%. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... llionairesGuru Meditation wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 10:08 pmFun fact, Sweden have more millionaires per capita than the US, despite around half of the last century being governed by socialists, and that is not a recent trend during a conservative majority.

I didn't claim a current conservative majority, my point with that statement was that the high millionaire count was not due to historical socialism and more recent conservative/liberal governing.
