Dragonflies
Dragonflies
Every couple of months or so at exactly this time of day, a couple of thousand of these guys pitch up and perform the most beautiful, lilting dance together over my terrace for a couple of hours and then just disappear.
There is no open water around here, not even any open space. So where they come from and where they go?

I noticed them last year (in Tuol Kork) around this time and this year (Tonle Bassac hood) again. Guess it's basically a "September/October thing"? They're awesome.
Could it be they appear after long rains the night prior?

They are truly beautiful. Their dance is balletic.
I just don't know where they come from around here (Olympic) and where they go.

Near the beach at Kep too. Shitloads of the fuckers. Rising, falling, buggering off, coming back. Some feed near certain vegetation? Mating? Rob W's well known odour?
The appearance of Dragonflies generally indicates the end of the wet season . They are a godsend anyway , feeding on young mosquitoes .
Sent from my Computer, using a keyboard and mouse
And they're back. Beautiful things.
I still don't know where they grow, or whatever you call it before they get wings, in the centre of town.

They're back, but a month early.
I was pretty sure through my Google research and what peeps said here they heralded the end of the rainy season but we haven't really had a rainy season.
World's gone mad I tell you.
