GC - "only a whisper". Have you actually been here lately? The place is absolutely crawling with them. LJ is right unfortunately. I often sit near the top of Serendipity for a beer or 3 and 9 out of 10 foreigners walking around are Chinese. And these are just the "normal" tourists, nothing to do with the casinos and gambling, online or off.
I know several people who have left or are leaving, most for Kampot. I may not be far behind although I am thinking of calling it quits in this country altogether. The only question is where to and will it have the ease of visas this place does. Probably not.
BTW LJ, are you still going to build an upscale place intended for foreigners?

Some of these casinos are fronts for VOIP fraudsters. Another 74 of the little shysters were deported last week.
It almost feels like a game. The Cambodian authorities take money from the Chinese in exchange for turning a blind eye to all sorts of nonsense, but part of the agreement seems to be to have periodic minor purges and deportations just to give an impression of oversight.

I have been here in Sihanoukville 13 years - I do not expect to still be here next year simply because of the Chinese invasion.
Bloody chinks eh.lurcio wrote:I have been here in Sihanoukville 13 years - I do not expect to still be here next year simply because of the Chinese invasion.

Yes I am of a similar mindset. Not having a business here reduces the reason to stay.lurcio wrote:I have been here in Sihanoukville 13 years - I do not expect to still be here next year simply because of the Chinese invasion.
Mind you many of the Chinese are bad at poker and thete is plenty of action at the table.
I will be spending less and less time here as well.
Going to look at kampot in a couple of weeks.
Will still keep my apartment here because it is cheap but i will spend more time at my places in the Pig Pen and Pattaya and play more golf.
Note to self: Must be nice to morons.

333 KTV has been gutted as well, along with many other buildings too, and I've heard rumours that part of the Small Market has been sold, with the rest of the place to follow soon.

But not until dry season.
I think it will be even better returns than i thought. There is getting to be a scarcity of accommodation in comming months I think.
I have had barangs come up to me and say they have heard about my plans and they know me and want to go on the list to buy or rent them.
