What foreign languages are most useful in Cambodia?
I am from the USA and between travels and study I am able to speak English at a fluent level, Spanish and Portuguese at a conversational level. Chinese at a beginners level. I am at a basic level with Vietnamese, Hindi, Farsi, Japanese, Arabic, Turkish, Urdu, Thai, Tagalog, French, Italian, Russian, Korean, and German. In Spanish and Portuguese I am literate and will understand a person who writes it. in Chinese I am able to introduce myself and ask for things. I also know the numbers. I also know some characters. Vietnamese is actually the first language I have tried to study and would like to develop it more.

The only good thing with this Chinese invasion is the Chinese women. LolHanno wrote:Chinese will certainly be handy in Sihanoukville....
For the singles under us. TanTan is the Chinese version of Tinder. (Wechat works also, but there are so many prostitutes on wechat, it's difficult to find a girl that just wants to have fun.)

Strayan is handy if you aspire to hanging with bogans.

Cambodian and English. You hear Chinese language in a lot shop's nowadays but when you speak to the waitress she usually understands basic English.
Unfortunately, it seems to be mostly Chinese dudes invading. Cambodia seems to be where they are dumping their imbalance of malesEquinix wrote:The only good thing with this Chinese invasion is the Chinese women. LolHanno wrote:Chinese will certainly be handy in Sihanoukville....

A polyglot American. How interesting.
As a mother-tongue English speaker I have great difficulty understanding many Americans who claim to speak English.

Exactly, I think being a polyglot is essential for any American to be understood outside of America.Ot Mean Loi wrote:A polyglot American. How interesting.

All of those too. But I grew up hearing many of those in the Brumigen area so a lot easier for me.
I was only 7 miles away from being a Brummie my self and just occasionally, an astute ear will detect the one vowel sound that fixes me geographically to my place of birth. Not often but it has happened.
