Need to exchange $100.00 for $20.00 bills.
Need to exchange $100.00 for $20.00 bills.
Hi.
Staying in Phnom Penh for a month.
Have 2 weeks remaining. My $10 & $20.00 dollar bills are shrinking fast and would like to exchange $100.00(clean) bills for some twenties.
(Q)'s.
Would a bank be the best place to exchange $100.00 bills for $20.00's?
Can you recommend a friendly bank?
My hotel is close to Heart of Darkness disco on 51st & Sorya.
Other than my U.S. Passport, is there anything else they require?
Thanks.
Tc.

Just go to the Aeon mall and buy a lollipop, and they will give you $99 crispy clean greenbacks in return. It's a good place, one of the few with decent customer appreciation and service.

This is such a dilemma that many of us face everyday, along with where to buy avocados, good luck.
The struggle is real.
The struggle is real.
It can't be done. Forget it.
Only way is to fly to Hanoi and back on a new visa.
Edited to say sounds like you are in the Newcastle Hotel. I'm quite sure they could change a hundred for you with the brisk afternoon trade they do alone (according to my friend).

Thanks all for the informative feedback.
No (tourist friendly) Bank name/address.
But rather:
Buy a lollipop,
Go to Hanoi,
Decide which avacado to buy.
BTW: NewCastle hotel cannot exchange
100.00. Their advice where to go was incorrect.

Glad you can take a joke chap.
Anyway, as the guy above said, money changers around the periphery of Central Market or any bank will happily do it.

The money changers around there are usually out the front of gold shops, they are little boxes with daily rates and some foreign notes behind the glass. Wing shops change money too.
There's no profit in them exchanging 5 X $20 for $100 so either change some into Riel or pay a small commission. Also quickly check the notes for tears, I've exchanged money at them thousands of times and never had a problem but you are new in town and they might try it.

You can always go fo Naga World. Go to any cash desk in that casino and they will gladly break your $100 into smaller denominations free of charge. Slot machine players do this all the time there.
Freedom is not a state. It is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau.. Freedom is a continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society.-John Lewis

Just go to a bank, and tell them it's fake, they'll exchange it after a few quick questions.
