I’m arriving in PP in a few weeks and gonna book an Airbnb to tide me over while I find more permanent lodgings. What area do y’all recommend that’ll be a good base to scout from?
BKK1 seems like the obvious choice but I thought I’d see if anyone had other recommendations specific to my situation. It’s likely to be the case that my eventual workplace will be somewhere that I can find modestly priced office space so long term I’d be looking at wherever area that is.
thanks
Best area to stay 6 weeks in PP?

I used the air quality apps to see the prevailing wind directions & air quality minitor readings.
I usually stay short term in fully furnished lodgings.
I want quiet & clean air.
Its usually south of the city or north but with new airport it will be west or east in future.

For a real cultural experience I’d recommend Pochentong Immigration detention Center although the wifi can be hit and miss.
BKK1 is a pretty expensive area for living and office space. To reduce costs but still be accessible to BKK1 I’d suggest BKK2 or BKK3, Boeung Trapeik may also be more affordable but still close by. Then further out, and cheaper you are into Boeung Tumpun and Steung Meanchey. All of these areas are reasonably foreigner friendly.
For office space there are a few shared spaces, which I think are great for new people coming to work…like the factory (great facilities but not wonderful location).
Here is a link with shared workspace options.

There are a lot of multi use buildings that would suit in Toul Kork.
Most are beans new and offering deals.

Are there any areas that have nice convenient stuff that are not foreigner friendly, for those of us that want an authentic experience?ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:14 amAll of these areas are reasonably foreigner friendly.
I don't want to eat only hole-in-the-wall looking places with no AC and not have a mall or shops for essentials. But socially, if they haven't seen a foreigner in weeks and don't have English on the tip of their tongue - or perhaps I have to order by pointing - that would be ideal.
(Before anyone says it... I hate how people confound 'poverty' with 'authentic'. Surely there are middle class locals clustered in some district that just so happens not to be the obsession of the tourist crowd. No? Well in most countries this exists)

I don’t really understand the question.
What I meant by foreigner friendly is the presence of malls, coffee shops, supermarkets etc.
It’s Cambodia, anywhere you live your area will be dominated by locals. A significant number of middle class Cambodian will speak English and will speak to you in English rather than waste time listening to you butcher their language.
If you want proper authentic, then live in a $50 rented room, there all your neighbours will be def be Khmer and few will speak English.
