There are times at sea when all you want is to be safe in port. Then there are other times when you just don't want to be anywhere else in the world.
Don't mention the Giant Panda in the room.

Finally arrived in Splinterpore after 3 months of constant sailing. Not a great deal of peace traversing the Indonesian archipelago. It's been a very trying and intense few months for me. Many of the boats that have been on the rally have had some major dramas. Breakdowns, groundings, run down by ships....and a bit of light pirating to boot. Pulled in to the marina yesterday afternoon...what a fucking relief.this trip has been a real life changer...in a good way for me. Just when you think you are home and hosed...then you have to cross the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Ha ha massive steel islands doing 20 knts... Not for the faint hearted to say the least. Hold fast you scurvy dogs. See you guys real soon
Marvin.

Caught this nice Spanish Mackerel about 3 nm from the Equator heading into the pirate nest waters not far from the Singapore straights. The rod went off just as a large rain squall hit us. Fortunately I sensed some strong wind heading our way and reduced sail by around 60% . Pulled it it then all hell broke loose....wind and rain with lots of boat traffic and fishing nets all around...as always it seems to be the way in these waters.
Just left the fish on the deck and got to work trimming the sails the maximise the wind and calm seas to smoke along at 7 to 8knts. Strong wind and a flat sea is very rare thing when you sail. BTW we really need the this gift from the the sea. Had been running out of food slowly but surely. Fuck all food available in Indo...long story.

Heavy ship traffic crossing the Singapore straits ! You just need to watch them closely and pick a hole in the traffic....some of them are travelling at 25knts plus. Some have dummies all around and are covered in barbed wire....Pirates are real . Fortunately I am lead to believe they are only targeting large ships not small boats with no money.
Passing under the bridge that separates Singapore and Malaysia...with 8 meters of clearance...felt like the mast was almost touching it! Had " under the bridge" by the chilli peppers playing so it was a kinda cool.

I am going to out myself now but ...who cares.
We are who we are...Internet or a Avatar or not.
During the last 4 months I have seen many things that are worth looking at by fellow life soul
searchers. For me the hardest thing is ....now what?

Thank you for sharing some moments from your epic adventure
Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

Kroko Atoll
Beautiful place...really clear water and good diving. We had heard about this place along the grapevine. Weeks before arriving, we just drifted along, stopping wherever we liked. This was fine at first until the locals started to get a little too interested. I began to notice a common theme after a day or two on anchor; The intensitiy of the volume for the call to prayer became louder and louder to the point it was unbearable. And we would have to move on to get some peace.
Even in the most remote and beautiful places throughout Indo there were always a few boats just hanging around...no fishing gear or diving gear, just hanging, staring and acting suss. They always looked pretty slick with fancy clothes, flash sunnies and the latest phone. Just strange...they would always piss off real fast when I pulled the camera out to get a pic of them.
