Sensible discussion on British politics thread
How sweet is the gnashing of teeth and rending of leftie sackcloth.
Just came back from helping my aunt spend her winter fuel allowance on champagne. How ridiculous that she receives it - whose idea was that to give it out without a means test? Spending it on champagne seems like the best use of it.
See you in Spain Elkroy. Fishing around for a little bolthole near the south west coast myself. Hopefully the pound will come up a little more in the short term.
Cummings, kungfu, Cummings. Expect a purge of the civil service of Stalinesque proportions. That at least you could approve surely.
Oh happy day. Calloo callay.

When Johnson says he's going to invest in the NHS, you just know he means America is.

I can't remember one time anyone called Johnson out on his oft repeated 'one nation Tory' guff. He threw out all the one nation Tories in his party, including Churchill.RobW wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 12:29 amHow sweet is the gnashing of teeth and rending of leftie sackcloth.

Re the winter fuel allowance, has she considered not claiming it? It's not means tested so the wealthy can't continually go on about scroungers and dole scum. It doesn't stop them from claiming all the benefits themselves though, whilst still having the odd million in the house and the account, let alone shut the fuckers up going continually on about scroungers and dole scum.
Up the workers!
Hi RobW. My 95 year old mother in law did not claim her Winter Fuel Allowance. Seems like your Aunt may have a drink problem.

Zac Goldsmith, what a story. Son of humble billionaire, 23 made editor of a magazine ( owned by his uncle ), gets Tory nomination for leafy London seat at 32, loses the seat twice in 3 years, ( also losing London mayoral race ), Elevated to the House Of Lords, Truly, the British dream.
Old Etonian Zac, gets peerage from Old Etonian Boris Johnson.
Still, good job we avoided being run by an unelected, unaccountable elite eh ?. Narrow escape.
Hard work pays off, the struggle is real.

Boris Johnson is now removing his pre-election commitment to maintaining worker's rights from his Brexit bill.
It's what Northern working class ex Labour Leavers were demanding apparently.
The farce turns to tragedy.
They deserve every single thing coming their way.
People did everything to warn them and protect them, instead, the likes of JC were treated with contempt and the judged called enemies of the people, All they have got left to say now is " I told you so "
Merry Christmas,

Merry Christmas,
I’ll be honest. I voted libdem after decades of voting conservative but I must admit I’m kinda glad the Tories won and now look forward to a period of stable government.
I also wanted to Remain but I’m big enough to accept that vote has been lost and I’m putting my faith in Johnson to come up with a sensible exit that won’t harm the country too much.
Ever hopeful.

Merry Christmas,
Merry Christmas - a best-wishes that has more pathos attached to it this year than any other I can personally remember. Including when Thatcher was pm.

I haven't anything to weep about. And I never will. Why? Because I don't look to the state to provide my happiness. If you're not happy with your life, make some changes to rectify that. Sitting around waiting for the government to improve it for you is for losers.

Careful Slavedog, your swimming trunks have ridden up and you're showing your bollocks, again: as proud as you are, just for once, think of the little children.

Good point slave dog.
KFF can take a break, and when he comes back, he can stick to his own thread when he wants to comment on politics.
I have already moved his more recent posts from above, to his own little rant column ready for him to start again there.
