Does anybody know anything about a UK passport holder obtaining an Irish passport?
Eg is it easier to get than some other EU passport? How long would it take to complete the process? Idea of the cost associated?
Asking for a friend.

You need to prove you have at least one grandparent who was born in Ireland. You cannot apply online for the first one. You can get the form from the British Embassy in Phnom Penh.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
You also need to pass a test on Irish culture. I'll help you get started. (Sorry LL, had me in hysterics!)

And Oirish history
Bringing the news. You stay classy, nas, Cambodia.
If you don’t have a parent or grandparent of Irish decent no chance.
The easiest is Portugal and Spain apparently but it still requires you to gain citizenship, stay in country for some time and have some cash.

My friend says 'feck'.
He says he's watched the whole series of Father Ted about 20 times, and hopes that may count for something.
He also says thanks for the information.
I liked the chip-like brain slur.

Up the workers!
Malta and Cyprus have options, but it costs - around £500k in the form of property investment. Estonia has recently introduced a Euro100 e-residency ID card. While it doesnt give you citizenship or right of residency, it does give you the right to start and run an EU based business.
It wouldn't surprise me to see certain cash-strapped EU countries starting to push the boundaries on this, and offer citizenship for cash or investment more easily soon.
