In the short term, yes it does, but later...Dylan Quint wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 5:12 pmCheap as chips too, I would imagine, just as it was 21 years ago on Lombok after the Muslim/Christian violence, including the torching of churches and killings. That kind of stuff really kills tourism on the larger scale.

Like Thailand perhaps?starkmonster wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 4:28 pmNot taking anything away from the hardship people are going through, but some of those places they had been taking tourism and tourists for granted for many years, maybe this whole episode will be an eye opener and an attitude reset.
Cambodia hadn't quite got to the stage of tourism apathy that other neighbours clearly had, but pre-covid you sensed that it was on its way at times.

Can you give us some information on these great travel deals you can get in Europe? All I have heard about are total rip off prices for staying in very ordinary places.spitthedog wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 8:33 pmLike Thailand perhaps?starkmonster wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 4:28 pmNot taking anything away from the hardship people are going through, but some of those places they had been taking tourism and tourists for granted for many years, maybe this whole episode will be an eye opener and an attitude reset.

I just dont see the reason to sit on a plane for 12 hours, when there's so many great beach destinations close by in Europe that havent gotten way above their league on price.
Plus the smile has gone from service in the LOS, and they are jaded off all us farang big noses.
But then again, i did stay rather a long time in the region, so it's no wonder i'm more excited about travel in Europe.

500 p.w to rent a cottage in Cork aint bad, and i'd say Oi'land aint that cheap, relative to the rest of the EU.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 10:00 pmCan you give us some information on these great travel deals you can get in Europe? Don't know about now, but a couple of years ago I went to Portugal, and food and accommodation were surprisingly cheap.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 10:00 pmCan you give us some information on these great travel deals you can get in Europe?
